when i wot it out of the gate it sounds like it is sucking in air and cavitating for about 2 seconds then its fine. I just bought this 2004 gtx sc 185hp. it runs good and fast tops out at 68mph. just wondering if there is a issue or is that normal?

how many hours are on the machine? does it have the stock ceramic washers inside the supercharger or were they replaced and the SC rebuilt?

oh wait you may not have washers since its an 04.. when was the last time the SC was rebuilt?

i almost want to say what your experiencing is normal..

original per dealer machanic / i definitly am replacing them soon/ he said the old guy that owned it babied it so they were not under that much stress and they seem fine at 280 hrs

280 HOURS?!?!?!

the recommended rebuild time is 100 hours OR two years.. you are WAY OVERDUE on both ends. it really doesnt matter if it was babied or not.. ceramic becomes brittle over time and WILL fail.

i wouldnt ride that machine until that supercharger was rebuilt..

STOP riding that NOW before you pick the supercharger bearings out of the motor. That is way overdue on time and almost 3x the runtime. That said what you're experiencing is most like a damaged wear ring. Also some of the earlier models had plastic pumps not aluminum. The plastic pumps are notorious for causing cavitation for no good reason.
