well i was driving along on the CT river at about 50MPH and then bam nothing. so i took it home and start looking, reading this great forum. i have discovered there is no spark. so checked the white wire near the coil and there is no power there when i try and start. Now im a little confused because the white wire goes to the front box, but i read hear that it could be the magneto. what should i do next. please any impute would be great.
The ski is a 97 SPX with i believe a 787 rotax.

update...shavings

well after taking of the magneto cover i have found shavings. but everything looks find, i cant even tell where the shavings are coming from. what should i replace?

checked all the fuses

all of the fuses are good, ones in back box and front box. but what about the shavings is anything in there broken or every thing is good....i can put it back together?

from the bendix, kick'n out, to turn flywheel...yeah, put back together. If it were a 96, and dif'rent model, theres an "igniter" module that looks like the mpem, thats located inside the lid of the ebox.

If access to manual, in it has the "specs" which the stator/componants should fall in.

double check ur grounds/connections, connections in/at mpem..etc

update

ok so i opened up the front box and started checking all connections, and grounds. i also checked the magneto wire to see if that was working or just looking good, I am getting .24 volts through it when trying to start it. it switches between .24 volts and .02 volts like every second. still no power going to the whit wire that controls the spark. Another thought i had is that it is the computer. about 2 hours of riding before it died the gas gauge and oil light started going crazy, these are items that hadn't worked when i bought it. could that be an indication of the cp/memp?
mmmmmmmmmmm.. beer what separates work form hobbies.

No Spark No Joy!!!

I was having troubles with my 96 xp as well it turned out to be a simple lanyard problem do you get two beeps when its installed? if you do your dess maybe goofing up try putting the ski in self diagnostics mode with the lanyard out push the start botton 5 times put the lanyard back and hit the start botton again if you get beeps you have a problem (let me know and i get you the information on what the beeps mean).. the dess lanyard which in turn could be telling the security function or dess that someone is tring to steal it so it disables the cdi from firing the coil and result no spark... if you don't get any beeps the mpem is communicating with lanyard and you should be able to start if it doesn't start pull the lanyard off and reinstall and hit the start botton and you may have spark...thats what i had to do on mine you might be lucky and just need to clean your lanyard.

Good luck and well see you on the water...

help!!!!!!

Yes mister. It sparks it hasgas in the intjeksen the timing is very good too
but when i try to start it is choking . When i post the key my dashboard says M.I.A.N.T but when i try to start it the name KEY SANSOR shows up.

ill try

Thanks, I am at my wits end, I was going to take it to the dealer to have them find the problem $150 flat rate. But I would like to work on it as much as possible my self (to save money and learn). The only other thing my peeper doesn't work. I have tried just plugging in a light to see if the light flashes twice when i start it but that still doesn't work. I tried that when the jet ski still ran. I guess i could just go buy a new beeper and replace the old one. That would really give me a better insight as to what the problem is. The key I have for it doesn't fit on it that well it only goes about halfway but i figured if the starter was trying to start and it was getting gas then the key is working. :(
