Brand new spi shortblock in a free hull.
All back together, no spark.
Swapped coils, mpem. Nothing.
Next day, i noticed the stator end of engine is warm, and the ski has never ran.
So, we think the stator is bad, throw a new one at it. Still gets hot if you leave a battery connected.
Thought it was regulator/rectifier, cant find one. Is it built into the mpem?
This ski has been in my garage for 3 years.
Im ready to squish it with my excavator.

It may be in the MPEM. BUT... we have no idea what you are working on . Year??? Model?? What engine?

Well......

the 2000 to 2002 GTX carb should have the MPEM with the external regulator. I'm guessing it's gone bad.

Well thank you dr honda.
That would make alot of sense.
I just couldnt find it.
Any guess as to where they hid it?
Its not in the box with the solenoid and coils.
I will take a peek at the ski in the morning when i get to work.
Look a little harder.

It's been a while since I've had my head in one of those... but if you remove the front storage bucket... you may see it mounted in there.

Stuck my head in again today.
And again i feel stupid.
Last night i watched a video showing a regulator screwed right to mpem and thought i was that blind.
Today i look again and nope. There is no regulator, or a place to mount one, or a pigtail for one.
The mpem takes 3 massive multipin connectors and has one removable cover to access fuses.
Nothing else under storage. Wires up to hood for gauges, and wires to handlebars for start/stop and buzzer. 4 pin connector and a 2 pin up to handlebars.
Nothing in the battery box or even wires leading me to it. Cant see it being in the mpem, as ive swapped 2 different mpems thinking i lost the key programing.
Where else would they hide this little rectifier?

Some are integrated into the MPEM, OSD Seadoo makes a kit to bypass the integrated rectifiers.
