Hello,
I am new to here and new to jetski’s in general.
So I got a 97 GTI. PO said it ran but it would start on its own. When I got there he had the ground cable off the battery. He connected it and it started cranking right off... he thought it was running but I showed him it was just the starter turning it over... I was able to check compression has good compression but no spark. The battery died so he hooked up a charger and put it on 50 Amps to keep trying it. Did that kill the Mpem? I bought it for a good price so no I gotta fix it.
So there is no beep and when I connect the power and it cranks until I disconnect power. I checked the starter Solenoid for continuity with no power and there is none so solenoid should be ok... but why is it still running the starter when powered?
Also I read there should be a small black wire going to battery negative post with the big ground wire... this is not there.?
So any advice would be great
Thanks
Davis

Very good chance that charge fried the MPEM.

The continuous cranking was just a bad starter solenoid.

Thanks for the reply! Is there a way to test it? I don’t want to throw $140 on a guess... I tested the solenoid and it tested fine so I’m confused
