I have an 05 GTI and whenever I turn, it will cut majority of the power out. I know it is probably a safety thing, but it sucks. Is there anyway around this or am I stuck with it forever?

You shouldn't be getting a noticeable "Bog" on the engine while turning.

I would verify your fuel pressure, and compression.

I can be sitting still, turn the steering wheel all the way, and floor it, and it will make very slow turns. Same thing as I am going straight and then try to turn, it cuts alot of power out. It does it turning both left and right. I know they have different keys for kids and stuff, but it will still let me run around 55. I will check the pressure but we don't have any problems going straight.
