Newish Seadoo owner

Just thought I'd drop in and introduce myself.

I bought a 98 GSXL last summer and I love it. So far it's been a reliable ski (knocks on wood) even with all the mods that have been done to it.

It's got the 951 Silver motor.
Miller TSE head
Coffmans Rec pipe with ECWI
R&D F/A and intake ( I think)
Scat Trac Magunum pump. Not sure on the pitch of the impeller tho
Microtouch rev limiter and timing advance.

Of course after I bought it I noticed a few minor things like, the VTS dosen't work (shocker) and the fuel guage reads full all the time. Nothing major. I already fixed the VTS with the power door lock relay mod

Anyhoo, that's my floating time bomb LOL. I'm sure I'll be asking questions this summer on how to fix it

Welcome to the forum. How many hours are on that "time bomb"? What's the compression? Lots of good folks with plenty of knowledge here to help you. Good luck!!!

As for hours. The gauge is showing 161. Not sure if it's the original engine or not. Somehow i doubt it. So far the compression is good. I haven't checked it this year yet but last year it was 135mag 139pto.

She's a beast for sure. I bought it with a the mods hopeing it was set up right and it is. Whoever did the work really knew what they were doing. Now i just hope it stays that way LOL

On the fuel pickup I bet someone bypassed it so it didnt blink at them. Either that or a magnet came out of the float and is stuck to the board.

The GSX hull is the WORST to change out that pickup.

Ya, Looking at the plug for the fuel guage it looks like it has been jumpered so it woulden't beep.

I thought about pulling the baffle but like Minne said It looks like a SOB to get out. Maybe next winter LOL.

(can't convince myself that its worth fixing up)

I know what you mean about the purple. I almost didn't get it because of it but, it's kinda growing on me LOL

Oh yeah, I remember it. Probably the only time I actually needed 4WD, but still had to be pulled out. She still is pretty, though!!!

Ya. Mostly Thunderbird. I hope it's useable this year. I drove out there the other day and it's looking pretty sad. It's usually me and a buddy of mine. Hes got a 28 footer that we hang out on

I am out there alot and it is a little better with the rain we got last week. Hit me up sometime if you want to ride. I am out there about three times a week riding. I got hooked up with two other guys that ride and we meet out there and they have several wakeboards and I bring the tubes and water ski's. We have a stereo and a cooler of "beverages" and we all hang out together and watch each others stuff when the other is out riding.

Thats usually where we put in at but most of the time we head across the lake to find a cove that isn't to busy. I usually tie off to my buddys 28footer. Usually we're in the cove right off little river. Usually not to busy and plenty of room to play plus, alot of guys like to drag race their skis back there. I'll look for you all this summer. You cant miss mine being bright red and PURPLE LOL

If you are interested in changing things up I will put your name on the next set of black trim that comes in...I sold the last set I had a week ago.

I have all red hoods and all the black trim parts you could switch out. Then...a seat cover and mats and no more silly purple.

They had good looking purple back then too...the purple on that thing was hideous!!

The setup is badass though!!

Andrew, It's supposed to be almost 80 on Friday. Thinkin about takin her out for the first run of the season. That water's gonna be COLD
