Newbie - Need help choosing model

Hey. Trying to figure out which Sea Doo to buy.

- Have never tried a Jet Ski before.
- Been riding snow mobiles for years.
- Love snowboarding/skiing (and the idea of wakeboarding/waterskiing behind a Jet Ski :thumbsup: )

Expected use:

- Playing around, watersport, cruising/touring. In short looking for a "allround" Jet Ski.

Looking to buy a 2014/2015 model. Right now I am looking at the following models:

2014 Sea-Doo GTX WAKE PRO 215 (Approx 15,200USD)
2015 Sea-Doo GTR STD 215 (Approx 16,200USD)
2015 Seadoo GTR 215 (Approx 16,200USD)
2014 SeaDoo RXP-X 260 RS (17,000USD)

Prices are converted Norwegian prices with todays ex. rate. and for a brand new Jet Ski.

Right now I am tipping towards the Wake Pro. For one it is cheaper than the others, but I like the functions/equipment for water sports and the look/colors.

When it comes to handling, how it fit my use etc., I guess nobody knows as I am a total newbie. From reading about it I think the S3 hull fits me better than the GTI hull since I am looking for a allround Jet Ski. Obviously this is only an assumption and I might be wrong about that.

So I guess I need help comparing the models against each other. What am I missing out on from the others if I choose the wake Pro? Which of these do you think will suit me best? Which of these are the easiest to handle for any Newbie?

Any help/tip is much appreciated!

The prices you listed are shocking. I pad 10 grand for my RXT-X brand new, never titled.

None of the ski's that you listed are bad ski's. Some will be better than others for one specific reason or another. The 260 engine is VERY strong and very fast. I have the 255 in my RXT-X and it runs fantastic. All stock and I hit 72 MPH. The 4-tec engine (which all the ski's you listed have) is well proven. You can get 1000's of hours on it with regular maintenance.

I guess the 260 will hold it's value best, assuming you aren't rough on your equipment. It costs only 12% more.

Coastiejoe: Prices are after import/motor tax and 25% VAT. What is the difference between RXT-X you have and the RXP-X besides the 5HP?

Sportster: Your avatar is so funny. Jack seems to be enjoying his golden years :lol:. But I think you might be right about that. This price is a reduced price since it is last years model so the first year value drop is nearly cut away.

Your replies is all S3 hull ski's so I guess I am right about that one then.

Since both are based on the S3, is the RXP-X similar in handling vs. the wake? I am skeptical to spend 1800USD more on the RXP-X if the difference mainly is the HP.

Thanks! I noticed the 2015 RXP-X is 23 LBS heavier than the 2014 model. Any ideas why?

In the specs the only difference I can find is the weight and that the 2014 has a slightly bigger storage capacity. I am struggling trying to find info if there was any major changes between 2014 and 2015. Anybody know?

The reason I ask is not because the RXP-X 2015 is an option for me, it's just so much easier to get the info about the 2015 e.g. on the Sea Doo website. If I knew the main differences it would be really helpful.

I do not know what the difference is in this case. Very often they find a way to get a larger fuel tank in it. If gas Is 4.6 pounds to the gallon, that equals 23 pounds.

Considering a 2012 RXP-X right now. Looks to be in good condition.

Anyway, should I buy a LADDER, Retractable boarding step? A must have? I'm thinking I myself probably will have no problem climbing on board, but if someone else rides it, it might come in handy.

Thinking about getting the Ski eye 291002351, for towing wake board etc. Anybody try this?

Seller can install a depth finder for me. But he want 315 USD only for installation. I have to purchase the depth finder also. Are these depth finder relatively easy to install, and do I need a special software/coding tool to be able to get the depth in to the display?

You don't need the depth gauge. If you can see the bottom, it is getting shallow.

i agree on the depth gauge, if you can't see the bottom, its plenty deep.

I'd suggest investing the money in a GPS first.
