All I would like to know is it worth my time and effort into replacing the motor on my 98? Or should i just take it in and spend 3g's? I am a mechanical contractor by trade and a Truck guy by night.. I know my way around engines, however never even attempted to work on a Ski before.. I have built many engines and have all of the necessary tools for automotive, are there special tools I would need to get this Rotax out of my machince? Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.. especially considering the summer is almost over up here

They are pretty simple to work on, but can be a bit of bitch to get running correctly.. Once you do the first one things will get a lot easier. There is lots of good information in here on how to do things, and where to get parts..As for tools you have what you need to do most jobs.. You can get rebuilt enginies from www.sbtontheweb.com they have a a lot of parts for the skis..

First thing I would do is download a shop manual for your ski and look at the section on engine removal and installation.
I removed the engine on my 99GTX and replaced it with a rebuilt engine.
If I had to do it over again I would do the same thing.

thanx for the input... I took them both to a shop to let the experts tell me what's wrong with them.. if they can't fix it for cheap then i guess i'll have to dig into them...

Yeah man you can do it. It will probably be some work, but it is well worth it money wise and satisfaction wise. good luck
