Newbie C180 jet pump questions

Hey guys...

Just a few questions about replacing my jet pump...

I recently bought a 2008 Challenger 180 and I got underneath it and looked up thru the intake grate, to inspect my wear ring. I not only noticed that my wear ring needs to be replaced, but all of the fins on my jet pump are gone!!

More than likely, I'll be replacing the wear ring, jet pump and impeller.

So, I'm curious to know what will be needed other than a new jet pump, wear ring and impeller, before I get into replacing these parts? Items such as - Seals, bearings, sealant, grease, clips, etc... Jet pump oil?
I'd hate to get everything almost reinstalled and then find out I need something other than what came with the impeller, jet pump and wear ring.
I'm aware of the impeller tool. But, I've seen some places selling just the jet pump and other places selling the jet pump, along with an assortment of clips, o-rings, seals, bearings, etc. Should I assume that I should be replacing all of these other smaller pieces too?
The boat has about 90 hours on it.

This is my first question/post, on this forum, so please excuse my ignorance.

Thanks for any help that you may provide.

Fins on the pump may have been removed on purpose by the previous owner. Once they get dinged up its common practice to grind them off. They are not needed.

Nope. They're all broken off, not ground or filed. Each one is a different length.
I'm more interested in what's needed to replace the impeller, wear ring and pump, other than an impeller tool.

Are you referring to the plastic fins on the pump support? If so, they're insignificant. Mine look the same. Some say they've gained speed by grinding down what's left flush, but I haven't bothered.

As far as tools are concerned there is nothing special required to remove the pump itself. To remove the impeller you'll need the impeller tool and a 12mm hex socket. So if you buy a new pump assembled that's all you need. If you plan to rebuild your pump then you'll need the tools for pressing the bearing in and out.

I was assuming that Sea-Doo designed the jet pump to have fins for a reason.
I think I've read that the jet pump has some sort of sealer on the backside, sealing it to the boat and the jet pump has some sort of oil in it? If that's true, any particular sealer and any particular oil?
Anything else I'm overlooking?

Thank you!!

I haven't been able to find a video, on YouTube, of someone changing out a jet pump on a Challenger. All of the videos that I've watched show the removal of the pump assembly, from jet skis, not boats. Everyone has me under the impression that the removal is the same on a boat. For some reason, I think it might be a bit different. Just trying to figure out what's needed, other than the tools.

The plastic pump support as BRP calls it is sealed to the boat yes and is likely a pain to remove. Surely the fins were added for a reason, but seeing as they are plastic it's no surprise they are most often broken off.

The pump has grease in it from the factory, which you can buy a your nearest BRP dealer. They call it jet pump bearing grease and the part number is 293550032. Some have put gear oil in the pump, but BRP uses grease.

You may want to replace the neoprene seal that goes between the pump and the support, but without taking the pump off it's hard to say if it's required.

It's pretty straight forward. The ski video's will be very similar to the boat.

Remove the linkage for the reverse and steering. 10mm
Remove the reverse bucket. 13mm
Remove the cotter pin and plastic retainer for the reverse cable.
You can remove the nozzle or leave it attached to the pump if you wish. 4 hex bolts hold it on, don't recall the size.
Remove the 4 pump bolts, 17mm I believe.
Now you can pull off the pump.

So, I'll add pump grease and possibly the neoprene seal to the list.
Maybe some anti-seize or loctite?
Anything else that I might be overlooking?

So, I don't need anything but the required hand tools, the new jet pump, the new impeller and the new wear ring? And the pump oil and possibly a neoprene seal, that someone else mentioned?
Perfect! I just want to make sure that I have everything that's needed for reassembly, before I start dismantling my boat.
Thanks for your help!

If you're replacing the pump assembly because the plastic fins are broken, you're wasting your time and money. If there are more parts broken/corroded to the pump assembly, then i can understand replacement. How bout a pic?

I can get under the boat and take some pics, but I just assumed that anyone that would be commenting on this post, would be familiar with the jet pump removal & instalation, on a Sea-Doo Challenger.
Maybe once I take it apart, I'll have a better understanding of what's under there.
I'm just trying to understand the whole "file the fins off". I mean, on one end of the driveshaft is the boat motor. The other end of the driveshaft is the impeller. I was just assuming that those "fins" hold a bearing or something, in the center of the pump housing, to keep the impeller centered in the wear ring. But then again, I'm new at this whole thing.
I'm still making a list of what's all needed, other than the parts & hand tools, to do the install.

A picture clears up many questions that can be answered different ways. These are the fins that can be removed with no effect..
