Whats up everybody, Im new here and new to PWC. I just picked up, well actually traded a firearm even for a 94' GTX (657cc). I took it out last weekend and it ran great.

Do have a couple questions though, sorry if there newbie questions...

1- Is it normal for the engine to be sluggish until the engine temp comes up to normal operating temperatures? Then it runs great

2- I run it in fresh water (not exactly clean water though) How often should I do the engine flush, and how often should I do the Sea Doo Lube into the air intake box, and how often should I do the Sea Doo Lube into the cylinder throught the spark plug holes? Every time I ride it or once a month or just for storage?

3- My fuel gauge is not working, well actually the guage works I jumped the connector and got a reading, I pulled the fuel baffle and couldnt make out the magnets on the float, so Im assuming they fell off, yet I couldnt pick up the pieces in the tank with a pen magnet. Where can I find a new float? Cheaper to try that first then replacing the entire baffle.

4- My speedo isnt working and I am not sure how to diagnose the issue with that, the paddle wheel in the back spins freely BTW.

5- I am looking at painting the hull, any suggestion on what paint to use, or atleast what paint NOT to use

Again thanks for any help

Hi, and congrats on the ski.

1) Nope... not normal. If it's sputtering, and clears out... that's typical... but if it just feels flat... then check the compression. Also, check the spark plugs, and let us know what they look like. (could be a few things)

2) If it's going to sit... I would flush the engine, and wash it after each trip. If you are storing it in a garage (relatively dry) I wouldn't worry about the fogging oils until you are going to put it away for the winter, but I would run Marine "Stay-Bil" in the fuel to keep it fresh and dry.

3) Check eBay for a new float. I bought one for about $15 a couple years ago. that should take care of your prob. Oh... check up inside the baffle for the magnets.

4) Had to check. all you can do is see if it's getting power, and then check the sender to see if you get a pulse on the wires. And... check to make sure all the wires are good. (sorry I can't give you a real answer on it)

5) Any good automotive paint should be fine. I like PPG.. but use want you like.

Good luck

I am swapping the plugs out today and will taking it out this weekend to lake.
Will look on ebay for a float.

Do I have to use the Sea Doo lube for fogging or can I used something else more available at autozone or something???

What do I have to use on the impeller to lube it, the same fogger as for fogging the air box???

What type of oil can I use/substitute for the sea doo oil recommended for the jet pump oil?

Not sure I understand what you mean about the speedo, im just not sure how the sensor works and now what to check for on what wires...

Stupid question Im sure, but is there a fuel pump on the 94 GTX, if so where is it. I was thinking about swapping the grey fuel lines out for automotive lines and trying to figure out what all that involves in swapping the lines out, such as gaskets, what is involved with the carb etc...
