Howdy all David from SA here.

Pretty much new to PWC but iv been looking and doing my homework with Seadoos, 2012-2013 models GTR-215 and RXT-260.

Question 1. im sure you have heard it a million times and thats to do with the ceramic bearing in the SC. Has this issue been fix in the 2012-2013 models or is it still present

Question 2. Ever hear of a subdoo....iv seen pictures of Seadoos under water.(which i think is BS). Iv read this happens due to drive shaft seals wearing. Is this true? Has this issue been fix in the 2012-2013 models or is it still present.

These 2 issues are making me hesitate but don't get me wrong these 2 Seadoos have what i want.

Question 3. The engines in both models are they 3 cylinders or 4 cylinders or either or?

Thank you for your time reading and answering the help is much appreciated.

First of all welcome! Either will serve you well. I suggest the RXT over the GTR because of the better hull and more power. It's easier to back of the throttle than it is to add it later.

1. That issue has been solved. Seadoo recommends 200 hr rebuild on the superchargers, up from 100. I'd still do it at 100 because of the needle bearing. They haven't been upgraded and doubt that they will last 200 hrs of hard use. The ceramic washers have been replaced with steel. They are good to go.

2. Anything on water can sink. Some are due to parts failure other out of pure stupidity on the user end. There have been some issues with the iS modes (suspension) sinking. Stay away from those and you should be ok.

3. Both models have identical 3 cyl engines. The difference is the supercharger and intercooler (bigger on the 260) along with larger fuel injectors on the 260.

Boom this is what im talking about. Thank you very much for clearing these questions up for me KK40384. But please others put your 2 cents in.

Also is it natural for the back end to sit that low in the water. seems like the back end sits a lot lower in the water then say the Yamaha does.

It's normal. Just seems that way because of the shape. It's normal for it to lean slightly rearwards because that's where most of the weight is. Then there's adjustable trim to help you with that once you're on plane.

theres not really much more for anyone to add... it was pretty much hit on the head with what was said...

id stay away from the suspension skis (i have enough trouble keeping a non suspension ski floating)

no matter what seadoo tells you... rebuild the SC at 100 hours or so... better to pay a little now or alot later

every seadoo ive been on leans in the rear more then a yammy... when reboarding i feel the back end dips into the water more also.. not so much on the yamaha..

good luck with your purchase make sure you post pics!!

thank you very much KK40384 and Mattydipps. ill keep up to date and post pictures of the craft i choose to buy.

Have you test driven either one yet? I just took delivery of a 12 Gtr215, I also have a gti130 (same hull as a gtr) I haven't got it on the water yet but I already have an Idea of what to expect. My riding style is more cruising, enjoying the scenery and do a few donuts and hole shots once in a blue moon. I'm not a crazy rider by Any means and never jump. The gti/gtr hull fits my riding style absolutely perfect, they are amazing. My uncle has a 12 rxt 260 and I took it out last summer for a few minutes and honestly can say I couldn't wait to get back on my gti130 (am I crazy?) I really didn't like that the ski was more work then pleasure, I also didn't like throwing my self off of the ski either because I turned and tapped the throttle forgetting at that particular moment it had twice the HP of my gti lol.

If your one to race and love to carve up the water then the rxt is for you. If you want a all around fun easy ski to ride with alot of power then the gtr is for you. Both are completely different animals. If you haven't test driven one please do before you make a purchase!!

Good luck both are awesome choices

na i havent tested yet but that will be on the list before i buy one.

my dad still doesnt like the idea of a pwc sinking. even though its due to wear and tear. but hes all yamaha by the way he talks to me about them.

The FZR with a few mods is a badazz ride.

Buying an performance machine and just cruising it on a quiet weekday morn is akin to treating a Corvette to bumper to bumper commuting. It just ain't right.

Gotta tickle the throttle every once in a while.

Had my wake 215 2011 model for 1 year now the s3 hull is great in all water conditions and with 75hrs up no issues! BRP dealers are doing a $100 buildge pump upgrade for people worried but I haven't had any water in to date the new 2012 SC clutch is a rotax racing item and does 200hrs, I ride with 15 odd seadoo's 215,255,260 X and limited's suspension and no problems just go out ride a few and you'll gravitate to the one you like.....new yammy's have had hull problems with there "nano cell" leaking between the bonded halves.....two in our group had 6" water in the hull after riding.....Take my word have a play and make up your own mind try every brand and enjoy

Having ridden both the FZR and the RXT 260 I can tell you 100% the RXT is the better ski. Not by much but it is. Now the X models are even better.
