New seal carrier assembly

Hey guys perhaps a silly question here but just want to make sure. I have the driveshaft out of my 95 xp and decided to purchase a new carrier bearing assembly, hose coupling and the pto boot as these were all original and never been replaced.

There is always been talks about when greasing the carrier bearing itself, you only want to do 1 - 2 pumps because you don’t want to blow a seal. I’m wondering when I install my new carrier bearing assembly .. assuming it won’t be pre greased .. how much grease should I put in there after install? Just stick with a couple pumps? Also with installing a new pto boot, I plan to grease the pto nipple until I see the shaft move or the boot swell slightly. If there’s any other tips to this install as well as re installing the driveshaft, that would be appreciated!

I think you have it down.
With the carrier you should feel a slight resistance when the bearings and cavity are filled. It should feel a little more than just the empty body filling with grease.

Thank you! I’ll pump until I feel a change in resistance , but plan for that to be 2-3 pumps. Don’t want to blow a seal. I’ll be sure to grease it every few hours of riding
