I bought a new to me 2005 RXT with 50.6 hours on it this weekend. (More for the gf when I don't feel like putting the wake boat into the water)

I have read the three main issues with this make and model, SC washers, exhaust valve stems and flywheel bolts. I called around to the dealers in the area and although most agreed to do the SC now, all of them stated that the exhaust value stems are not required and they had never seen any fail. This is in contrary to what I have read here.

And most said they have seen so few flywheel bolts fail that they wouldn't suggest doing them.

My plans are to take it in today to have the SC rebuilt. Are the other two issues more things that may go wrong but still highly rare or something I should really consider doing?

I could have got a 2007 RXT with 178 hours on it for $1,000 more with a rebuilt SC 25 hours ago. I am starting to think the 2007 may have been the better deal?

Thanks for your opinions.

Saltwater ski? What is the dealer charging for a supercharger rebuild? PWC Muscle does it for under 450 I believe and they use all oem parts. Not hard to remove supercharger, they also have a video on how to remove/install.

The 2007 has pretty much the same issues you mentioned regarding the 2005. The SC rebuild cost is the same and it's "highly recommended" every 100 hours or 2 years
for the 2005 or the 2007. IIRC, the exhaust valve stem issues are more prevalent with the 215 and 255 HP machines. Keep in mind on a site like this you will hear mostly
problems or failures etc and it's not a given that it will happen. I'm sure it depends on riding style, "abuse" of machine etc....I have a 2004 SC 185 HP and the value issue
just never crosses my mind frankly but I also am far more into cruising and trips vs speed and tricks etc. The flywheel issue I've never really read anything about that.

I think personally I'd be happy with the SC rebuild, take good care of it in terms of maintenance incl preventative and have some fun.
