I bought a 91 sea doo from a family and they told me that the starter was bad for a hundred bucks. The sea doo is in great condition cosmetically so it seemed like a descent deal if not I could part it out. I started with the battery, it only brought in about 6 volts after a full night of charging so I purchased a new battery. Installed the new battery and now when I press the start the motor clunks real loud and hard once. Does this sound like the starter? or somthing allot more drastic. How do i test the starter? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you so much in advance.

starter problem

sounds like the flywheel has sepaerated, i had a similar problem, remove starter and plugs, try to turn shaft by hand and see if you get the same result. the cover for the flywheel has about 16 bolts. take it off and look and see if the flywheel has seperated any. hope this helps
