Well I found a place and they are rebuilding my engine.

Took it last Thursday and the mechanic told me I blew a hole in a piston...

So how about that?

Before I tell you a price how much do you think is a reasonable amount of money for a complete bottom and top end rebuilt?

damn cheap, just put one in, in a 95 speedster. Shipped to me, from sbt, think was around 700 buks.

Call me.

Be sure to factor in carbs rebuilding and determining why the other engine blew, these engine just don't break on their own, something else usually does it.. :)

when he purchased the boat, the injection lines were broke.

Cheap...u order it yet(motor). If not, i'll bomb around c-list, see if i cant find something.

Thanks Seadooya, sorry I couldnt catch you before, the gentleman at the shop already broke down my engine, so I was in the middle of paying the other shop for the work they already did, and get seadooya to drop in an engine, so...

I left it at the shop, I think its such a hassle to pay the guy off and go and get it out the shop, he is 51 miles away from me...

But the shop gave me a good deal, listen to this:

1. Rebuild bottom end and top end, including new crank?
2. New oil pump and new lines?
3. Make sure I get new gaskets and go through the whole engine.
4. Re go through the carbs
5. He said it should last 10 years?

He wants to put a new starter in there because its the old starter that was in there before??

What do you guys think this should cost?

My guess is that 500 might just be for the labor before parts. Im leaning towards a grand. BUT , my opinion and $.60 cents will buy ya a bag o' chips.

If it's a "Brick and Mortar" shop... $1700.

I would charge about $1200 to $1300 if I did the rebuild. (with a hot rods crank)

I would charge a couple hundred to install an SBT engine. (so, $750 for the "X" engine, $100 to ship it each way....) Looking at $1100 for an SBT

So I dont feel so bad!

Plus a year warranty?!

Sorry Seadooya that I didnt get to you before, I know this time of year is really busy, so I know you have been very busy aswell!

Also this includes something about the rotary valve? and pvc pipe incorrect? LOL, I dont know about this stuff..

What do you guys think about putting a new start in there for another $119?

Not trying to bump this up but..

What do you on here think about the mechanic putting in a new starter?
I told him to go ahead and put one in. He said that mines looks like the old one and he suggested it?

Also he like synthetic oil or something? im sure since he is rebuilding my engine absolutely use the engine oil hes gonna be using right?

Thanks..
