having trouble getting my 90 bombardier sp started. i need to draw the fuel out from the tank, and the oil out of the oil tank.

should i just put some gas into the carb to get the motor cranking or what other step should i follow?
and as for the oil i have no clue on how i need to get that drawn in. i can see it stuck at the filter but not in it.

I'm not sure what you are trying to tell us. You need to be more specific. Has the ski been in storage for a long time? Also can you tell us the compression? General condition of the ski?

yeah sorry the skis been out of commission for about 7 years. i gone through the quick tune up, battery is correctly put in, siphoned the gas and old oil. put new fluid in, and now all i can get out of the ski is a brief start, with no gas or oil being pumped through. and is there some way i can hook it up to a water hose in my driveway to try and run it? i know i can easily on my outboard but im not sure about a jet pump. i know im just being a confusing hassle. :banghead:

Yes.. you can hook up a hose. It is the white plastic fitting in the hose, coming off the head. (it may have a red cap on it) BUT... if it's not running... you don't need cooling water, and unlike an outboard engine... if the engine isn't running, and the water is flowing... you will fill the engine with water. With a seadoo... you don't turn on the water until it's started.

What's "The quick tune-up"?

If the ski has been sitting for 7 years... the carb needs to come off, and it needs cleaned. Also... since it's a '90... you have an external fuel pump. It needs to come off and be checked over also.

If the fuel isn't being drawn to the carb... how are you getting it to fire? If you are using starter fluid... you could be destroying the engine. I would recommend pouring a little oil directly into the carb, and spark plug holes to make sure you get some lube to the engine.

FYI... if your carb is bad... I have an old style carb and fuel pump that is clean, and ready to go. (I'll sell it cheap since I'm tired of looking at it on the shelf)

i just replaced some wires, corroded lines, plugs, and filters and the battery. just the cheap fixes for now. yup im using starting fluid, guess i have to head out back and go over the carb now. i'll keep you posted on that extra one you have

also seems like i need a tether cord that i wasn't given. i was told skis are so similar to dirtbikes but mechanically their so different. should have started this project last month lol

They aren't anything like a dirt bike. Other than they burn gasoline.

If you are taking the carb and fuel pump off... you should pull the fuel select valve, and take the bowl off the filter to make sure it's not plugged up.
