Neoprene pump seal on a 97 1800

The 1800 has the big transom plate as part of the pump shoe. And, as I recall... no it didn't use the seal. If you have it apart... just make sure it's clean, and put a thin bead of RTV to seal the pump to the shoe. If it's not sealed well... you will draw air, and get cavatation.

Good luck

i wouldnt use silicone.

The wear ring extends a little bit/slight lip, out of the pump, to create the "seal", i would still use the neoprene seals though.

Yeah, those pumps don't use a seal or silicone, they just go on dry. However, I use a seal anyways just to make sure.
