looking to buy my first PWC and am a complete noob, never owned one before.

I found a local guy selling a 2008 Seadoo GTX 155 with only 30 hours on it.

It comes with cover and trailer, I talked him down to $5,700 cash. Is this a steal, good deal, or fair deal?

I asked him about maintenance he said "It had the oil and plugs changed at 10 hours and again last year and has been winterized every winter even tho its been kept in the garage" "Selling becuase no time to ride it"

If a good deal, and I decide to go look at at, what specifically should I be looking at? (most important)

any help/advice is appreciated, its pretty urgent beucase I need to get back to him by next few days.
hope you guys can help!

That's a steal. Run with it and never look back if he lets you test ride it. No test ride no deal. There's not much that goes wrong with the 155 motor especially with that low of hrs.

thanks for the reply, really wish I could test ride it, but impossible at the moment in everything still frozen in Ohio, so will have to take the cnahce without a test ride

any tips on what I should be looking at when I go check it out?

Check the oil and make sure it's ok (no milky residue on the stick or oil looking like cappuccino). Look through the jet nozzle and try to get a glimpse of the impeller. Make sure that doesn't have any visible damage. If it does no need to worry just beat him up in price even more and fix it yourself. Removing and disassembling the pump is child's play. Almost anyone can do it. Check the inside of the hull for any evidence of oil leaks or coolant leaks. Usually will pool towards the rear of the engine bay area. I would still insist on a quick test ride even though its cold. All you would need is to get it up to speed to see if there's any weird noises or vibrations under load. If that's not an option at least start it up and check to make sure the impeller is spinning in sync with the engine. (I've seen it spin then when revved it didn't do anything. That usually a stripped impeller shaft. Rare but possible) that's about it and good luck. Now go get yourself a great deal

Oh an make sure it isn't flashing any fault codes on the dash when the key is inserted. If it does write them down and reference the fault code thread. Sticky at the top of this forum. Not all codes are a big deal.

call me crazy but i always say.. if the trailer was taken care of well the ski will be taken care of better....

ive heard nothing but great things about the 155 motor.. and for something with that small of hours on it i would hop on it... let us know what happens

Thanks for the advice guys.

What happened was I made the deal with the guy, and a day before I was about to come pick it up, he calls me and says its Gone, he sold it to someone who gave a higher offer of 6K.

I was bummed out, then yesterday checking my craiglist found a local 2007 GTX 155 with only 26 hours in blue identical to the first one i found. He had it posted for 6,000

Offered him 5000 in cash and picked it up within an hour of him posting it. He even took me to the lake to test ride it, it was 33 degrees. so turned out even better!

Nice pick up.....1 yr older but you saved $700.

that's the trouble with CL sellers....so once you agree on a price ...GO pick it up so he can't resell it.

OH, Welcome to the forum by the way. :)
