I took my 1995 xp for a ride and after cruising around for a little while it started to bog down. It idled fine but wouldnt go anywhere when I gave it gas. It acts like it is getting no gas. After feathering the throttle a bit it will take off like a bat out of hell. I added some new gas and had to put in a different brand of oil this time because I couldnt find the other stuff anywhere. It is API-TC certified. Could it just have mixed wrong with the other kind of oil. What should I do?

I would start by draining the oil. 2-stroke oils don't always mix will.

Also... do you still have gray fuel lines? If you do... replace the hoses, and clean the carbs. They could be full of green goo, from the Tempo fuel lines.

I am premixing the gas so should I drain it all? There wasnt much of the old gas/oil mix still left when I filled it up. It just weird how it will act like its starving of gas and then just take off and run great until I shut it off then I have to go through the whole process again. I do have the grey lines and am planning on changing them. Is it fairly easy to do? I've never cleaned carbs either so whats the best way to go about this?

It's never good to mix oils... but, on premix, it's not as bad as mixing in an oil tank.

I would focus more on the Tempo fuel lines. They don't like the new fuels, and they are known to cause problems.

BUT.......

1) Check your compression. Before we chase a ghost, let's find out if the engine is still healthy.

2) Since you have gone to pre-mix, do you still have the oil tank hooked up to feed oil to the rotary valve gears?

Yes I do still have it hooked up to the rotary valves. I havent checked the compression but if feels strong. Ill have to check it as soon as I can.
