OK...my fuel gauge doesn't work. I've pulled the fuel baffle (what a PITA...) on my 97 GS and tested it with an ohm meter. I get the proper electrical readings when I tested it by sliding the float from empty to full. I'm assuming the problem is with the float and not the F1 fuse. Question: Since it's such a pain to pull the baffle, should I simply jump the fuse while I have already have the baffle out...??? I'd hate to put it back together and find I soon blow that fuse. What purpose does the fuse serve...??? It seems a common fix for a blown fuse is to simply jump it...

Thanks !

you got it, your float is sinking, you can buy a replacement one for like $10.

You can jump the fuse if you want since you have it out. I can only assume the fuse is there to prevent some type of voltage overload that could lead to a possible fire like if some hillbilly put 240v AC across it...lol.
