Need MPEM for '97 XP

It'll be there but at silly money.

Actually, I've run across a few people willing to let them go for between 100-200, but they were all the wrong model and/or year... just have to be patient. Someone out there will blow a motor and part out...

yeah good luck in your search.
How did you come to the conclusion the mpem was at fault?

Just curious.:hat:

Process of elimination... start button is good, solenoid is good, grounds are good, DESS is good, carbs and fuel lines are good, fuses are good...

Fires right up then will shut off 1 to 15 seconds later. If I try to restart it gives me the long beep, so I remove and reinstall the lanyard, get the 2 beeps, and she fires right back up. Never sounds like it's struggling for fuel, idling rough, or anything else wierd... when it stops it shuts down just like it would if you pulled the lanyard off

I remember hooking my batt charger up last year and forgot to disconnect from the machine - I think I boogered it up

They have a starter relay fitted that feeds everything on you ski including the mpem similar electrics as on my 3d and the GSX model. A worn relay would still work but when the voltage dropped alittle it would go off and shut everything down. Might pay you to change this anyways and it might save you lots of cash if it works.
Good luck.:)

Just to add to the last post........My 3d packed up after full throttle in the river and it was temprimental in finding the lanyard post but odd occasions it would start up.
And it was the 5 pin relay that had failed nothing else.

By starter relay you're referring to the solenoid, right? If so that part was just replaced a few weeks ago, so that can't be the culprit...

No they have a relay as in 5 pin relay found in cars.
The Seadoo one is a waterproof one though.

Wow. Any idea where that would be? I've looked all through the parts catalog and through the engine and can't seem to find where it might be

Ok hope you get to the bottom of it.:)
Have you posted in technical section about this one. I know how you feel when you've tried every thing without any forward progress.:(

I did, but didn't get much of a response... Maybe I'll give it another go though - thanks~

airlar73, sounds like the reed contact in the dess post is bad. Mine did the same thing until I replaced it.

Did you ever figure it out?

Did you ever figure it out what your problem was? My 97 is doing something similar.
