Well I bought a new ski this weekend, I was looking at 2 dif 2002 seadoo rx seadoos one was carb model and other was the di model the guy backed out of the regular model so I had to get the di which I was sceptical of but did it anyways. Well now I took it out today n it ran like 48mph??? It has a new engine with 4 hrs on it have all the paperwrk from sbt still under warrinty could it be the spark plugs or the old gas? Or any other sugestions impeller looks good and no one was on water it starts and idles good just wasn't hitimg good speed, also I popes the rave valve covers and there's just the spring is there suppse to be more I think I remember my xp having something else in there I'm going to flush all the gas tonight and fill back up and check compression but is there anything else it could be simple, I know these engines are not simple. Thanks.

okay well we got back to the house with it and checked the compression, it is a half dead battery so does that make any differnece at all to start with? well i checked it with my buddies test we took one plug out and left other in but uplugged it and just started till level reached the highest around 12 did the same on the other and around 110 is that good or bad for this engine i think its supose to be aabout 150 but i dunno so can someone help, its a sbt motor and is still under warrinty thanks

half dead battery is not the problem, if you're getting 12psi for a compression test, then that's a major problem but I don't think it would reach 48mph like that. it must have been failing and now is toast.

sbt will replace the motor but do not dissassemble the head or it will void the warranty.

the 951 DI is a great motor, what kind of oil are you using? I ask because if you use the wrong oil the motor will only last about 4 hours. sbt will still replace the motor though, but not the labor cost. You have to use xps full synthetic or an exact equivalent, a tcw3 oil will tear that motor up in no time.

Sorry I meant 112 psi and 110psi could it be cause it was low on gas? Or that gas was kinda old or what? Thanks.

because it having 4hrs on new motor, it could be that theres a ton of premix oil, still in gas tank for proper break-in, enough to harrbor the motor for proper rpms'. Syphon the gas, fill with fresh, and retry, with new plugs?

Rx di

You mention it goes 48 MPH. Any experienced mechanic is gonna want to know what the engine RPM's are at 48 MPH before he could give diagnostic help.

you shouldn't run premix on a DI motor even during break in but I wouldn't expect that to be the cause of low top speed if it idles, accelerates, and runs well.

we need to know the rpms, I'd suspect pump/impeller/wear ring issues.
