I own a 1995 seadoo sporster.. Everything seems to work right. It starts right up with no problem, but is seems that the battery isn't getting any charge back. I notice because when i remove the positive battery cable, the motor stays on for like five seconds and then it gently shuts off.. I check the fuse and it looks good, clean the wire connection. Then, i didn't know where to go after that. So, i was wondering anyone can tell me, What could be wrong? Why isn't it taking any charge?.. Pls help...

I try the search engine but all it gave are forums with seadoos not turning over.
I hope someone could lead to the right direction..

Pulling the positive wire isn't a good test for a seadoo.

Put a meter on the battery, and run the engine at 5000 rpm. you should see 13.5 to 14.5 volts. any more, or less, replace the regulator.

regulator

does the regulator affects the tachometer? i had installed a tachometer, and it was working, and now it doesn't work now. Everything else works fine, except the tachometer and battery not charging... Just want know,

yes bad reticfer will cause bad tach.
I'm in need of a tach where you find it??
Hate having to spend 60+ bucks for one

Alright, thanks. so i have to buy a reticfier/regulator....
I got my tachometer looking on craigslist for people that were parting out old seadoo jetskis.. It took me a while but it was worth it.... paid 25 dollar.

worst case scenario

So i guess the worst case scenario, when i replace the regulator and it still does the same thing would be the charging coil mess up?.......

Is the boat suppose to shut off if i disconnect the battery.....or is it like a regular car when u disconnect the battery, the car still runs..

do you have a twin engine?
swap retifiers to test it to be sure..

When I see ski gauges it has pic w/cable attached??
(not sure if the same plug type).
My tach has a 6 pin connector on the back then harness plug plugs into it.
(could be I get new/used harness??)

Did you test your charging system with a volt meter as per Dr Honda's instructions?
