question will a starter from 1996 xp 800 fit on my 1993 xp 680? im headed to turkey point tomorrow and Iv got the opportunity to buy one but i dont wanna spend the money if its not going to fit please help me!

And in 94... there was a split. I think the gears changed by one tooth. You may have to remove your starter fist, and count the teeth before ordering.

Assuming nothing on your engine was changed... you should have a 9 tooth. The newer engines use an 8 tooth.

NOW... don't hold me to this... but you should be able to use any starter from a 720 and smaller, if you install the 9 tooth Bendix on it. I've never personally tried to do it... but it should work.

yup, what he said. Make sure though, you get a starter, that has the 3-"ear" bolt holes.
