need advice about parts.

HI,

I have a 99' 787 GTX RFI. I had it rebuilt about two years ago but they did a crap job on the top end. either over bored the jugs or put the wrong pistons in. it only has 44hrs on it since rebuild and it looks like it has about .020 inch clearence between the piston and cylinder. anyway, I know I have to oversize the jugs again but I think I can bore them to 0.5 mm over. any advice on the pistons? What brand? anything else I might need to look at?

.5mm isn't too big, and you should have plenty of meat to do it.

The factory pistons are very good... but any of the real brands will be fine. (Pro-X, Wiseco, etc) BUT... before cutting the jugs... buy the pistons. Every manufacturer specs their own needed clearance.

I also read somewhere that the pro-x pistons are the most durable and will last the longest. is that true? or will the wiseco pistons hold up just as well?

wiseco pistons are less forgiving, I don't recommend unless your going to race it. pro x are good but I've had really good luck with WSM pistons, they are basically cheap cast pistons but hold up just as well as stock imo as long as the machine work sizing is done properly and is broke in properly. You should have .0040" - .0045" clearance with pretty most cast pistons.
