Many thanks to the members on this forum who helped me from "what the h@ll did I spend $250 on" to something we can mess around with this summer.
I've included some pictures of what this SPI looked like the day I brought it home. A 95 SEADOO that sat outside for about 2 years uncovered under a pine tree with allot of sap to scrub off.
I started with the basics, replacing the fuel lines and cleaning all the crud that the Gray lines produced. Bought a battery, new plugs, ordered a Black seat cover and a can of semi-gloss Black made for plastic. I later found out that the previous owner was running two stroke oil, not the recommended BRP oil. So I drained all the old oil, but it seems like most of it missed the bucket and ended up draining in the hull.
Once all the fundamentals were buttoned up I got her to fire up and gave it a Purple Power bath. Next was reupholstering the seat and painting over the Orange and Purple parts that I could get to. When taking the front hood off I noticed why my gas gauge/oil light did not work. The threads broke off the back so the gauge became disconnected. Plugging the gauge back in yielded nothing.
So following another thread said to check the little magnet in the fuel baffle, the magnet was on the other side sticking to the electronics. Installed the magnet and reassembled the baffle but the gas gauge was still not working, the baffle was though 58 ohm's is what the meter read.
A call to Nick (Minnetonka4me) hooked me up with a working gas gauge and a choke cable. 2 days later the gauge was in and working and I switched out the old sticky choke cable.
The final touch was the wrap, that Pink and Purple was way to much for me and my son refused to ride it if it stayed those colors. So being a sign shop and doing some research on the 95 SPI I came to understand that the 95 SPI is kinda like the GEO METRO of the SEADOO world. Don't get me wrong, it will still do 35-40 mph and that is good enough for me to see if we stay at this. I though of a old steam ship so we had the iron panel wrap and it kinda fit and looked pretty cool in my opinion. We also wrapped the top of the hull for the full effect and to tie the exposed Orange seat grab handle and gas trim on the ski.
So Just wanted to say thanks (to ocod) for getting me through this fun little project.
