My rant, the wife and daughter got tired of hearing.

Well today was the big day for our 13 yr old daughter. She has been getting ready for her boaters safety class so she can ride the jet skis on her own. Got all the info last week. Where to be, what to study ect...... Well we go their tonight and no one to be found??? So we contact the info number to find out the class was canceled. Now to my rant, they canceled the classes because the have been running them all spring without funding from our wonderfull goverment. They couldnt do it anymore without the funding. Sure enough check online again and their it was. That mole faced $&^#^^$ GRANHOLM has not released their funding money yet. I cant believe it. She did the same thing with our trail permit money for snowmobiles this year. The permit money was to go to the snow clubs to run the grommers. Well they had to pay out of pocket for most of the year. Now she does the same with my registration money that is supposed to help fund these classes. And this state wants to promote its water and rec sports that we have here. What a joke. I almost felt like calling 911 and reporting a crime. She has stole my money. I did write my state rep but we all know that will go no where. Man am i still P'd off. They feel they can just take what they want without any regard to who it effects. Man im glad this is it for her. I didnt vote for the mole the last 2 terms but i hope the people who did realize what they did now. Before her these things were left to run them selves. We had great snowmobile trails, great boat launches that were clean and in good condition. Great state and national forest campgrounds to go to. Now that she made it part of the general fund its all gone. Hows that lifetime trailer plate working for her now. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Ok im done. Sorry everyone but ive had enough. I pay good money to play in this state and just want to see it go for what it is meant for. Not lining the pockets of big business and political agendas. :rant::rant::boxing_smiley:

Yup... that sux. PA is almost as bad.

I would just say F-it. Print off the web page that said it was canceled, and let you little girl ride. When a ranger asks for her permit... explain that they aren't running the class anymore because of funding.

In my view... if the state cancels a class to be legal... and there is no other method to be legal... then the laws surrounding it become null and void.


Until they can provide you with the means to become legal, they can not enforce the law.

Yeah I agree. F em. Seems Michicgan has some serious money problems right now. Hope it gets better up there.

I teach boaters safety in illinois i know how funding goes. Me and all other instructors we dont make any money doing it but we charge $3 to take it and that covers the supplies. Have you tried looking at other states saftey classes ie illinois, indiana, wisconsin? Most states will let you take the class even if your out of state. I would call your local DNR officer and see what your legalness is as far as letting your daughter drive.

yup, our wonderful state is in severe termoil with its financials. its funny that you say that about the snowmobile trails. they raised the price of trail permits last year from 25 to 35 dollars and also raised the price of registarions by 10 dollars. so now for me to be able to ride my 3 snowmobiles on the trails, even if its just once a year, it will cost me over $100 just in trail permits. It was described that the cost increase will go to grooming clubs, making new trails, improving current trails, and leasing private property that the trails cross. all these beautiful, NEW, freshly groomed, trails must have been hidden undergound or somthing because i sure and heck didnt see the. im not trying to hijack here but i feel your pain. our state with the mole on top of it has a terrible problem with looking only at dollar signs in everything and not the people who the dollar signs affect.

there is a good chance that this year is going to be a super year for water sports. so i hope that the state of michigan and the DNR can keep their snit straight and not ruin it for everyone in the future.

i hope you and your daughter find a way to get her boater permit and can enjoy the summer. its no fun when you have to suffer because of a higher powers mistakes.

Right on the same page with ya. My $105 for trail permits didnt see any of the trails i rode this year. The groomers did an awesome job with what they had but it was such a weird winter they couldnt keep up with the amount of traffic when it did snow. Well i found out what we have to do now is go to the DNR website and if i read it right We pay $ for her to take a pretest online once she passes it we then call the local police and she takes a written test from them and then gets her permit. No classroom teaching or personal contact of any kind. Man what a joke. Oh well at least she can get her permitt to ride. November is only 6 mo away and maybe someone else can save our state.
