So I go out today with my 2002 GTX and rides greats. Ten minutes later it just shuts off as if you took the DESS tether off. So I reinsert the tether and its fine for about a min. Then I reinsert it again and nothing. I try over and over and ill get it to BEEP but as soon as I give it throttle it shuts off again. Then after waiting about ten minutes, its its fine again and it'll run but as im riding it, ill mess with the tether turning it and wiggling it and its still fine which make me think that the tether is fine, its something else. Any ideas?

Try cleaning the post, use a pencil eraser. If that doesn't work replace the post.

I'm not convinced it is a lanyard / DESS issue just yet.

Yes clean it and see what happens, it's free a Boarding worth a try.

Kind of sounds like it is starving for fuel.
Open fuel cap next time it happens and see if that makes a difference.

this has nothing to do with fuel, it shuts off because of the KEY, I get no display and it dies as if I have NO battery or something. Every time I put the tether, I get a BEEP and then display comes on, well my display never comes on and I don't get a BEEP as if it doesn't recognize the tether, until I wait about ten minutes then it recognizes it, its like something gets HOT and then it takes ten minutes to cool off

Check connections very well. It still sounds like a voltage/amperage issue to me. Does not mean it is the battery. It could be a wire or connection. Remove the hot and ground wires and clean them and where they bolt to.

If it was only a lanyard issue I could see it stopping and not starting. But you're saying you have no displays or power to anything. I'm thinking a battery or connection issue based on that..
