Can i test the mpem out of my 96 xp 800 in the 96 gtx to make sure thats the issue?

Yes you can, the xp does t have a Grey wire for tach

On a side note, I called they guy that sells aftermarket MPEMs and had a discussion with him about them. I would not be afraid to buy a MPEM from him. Of course, that was a while back... I'll have to figure out which one I talked to .

Buyer beware on aftermarket MPEM’s as many have been bad.
