Motors that fit a 99 GTS Hull??

I have the chance to get a 99 GTS hull for free, I know what the original engine that was in it was a 720 or 717 depending on what certain people call it. What I need to know is what other motor will drop into this hull with no modifications. The shop that has the hull says a motor from 95-99 gts for sure and maybe a couple of others but I think I should stick with the 720 because of the HP is has vs the older motors.

Doing the work is not a problem, but is it worth the time and effort vs spending say $2000 for a running GTS?? What would you do??
