modified intake grate

I just modifed the intake grate for my 2001 Islandia. I used steel rods tapered down and finished with a baked acrylic finish. I have not tried it yet. Just wondering if anyone else has done anything similar.

Intake Grate

We too have an 03 Islandia. Has anyone come up with how to remove the impacted grassy weeds from the grate without an underwater visit? Thanks

Just stop you engine and let the weeds fall.

Hey that looks like my barb-b-Q grill. Not only will it defer all the debris into the pump it will cause loss of performance of the jet pump too. Good in theory, but not real practical. Looks like it will add more turbulence / resistance to the water flow. Good idea though...let us know how it works in the water.
