Hello everyone:

This weekend I went to the beach with the family and the seadoo. Today was the day to use the 01 GS and when i turned it on it idles normally but when I gave it gas it didn't go fast. My top speed was almost the idling speed and the engine wasn't reving at all. Then I turned around and it died. Someone pulled me to the dock and i took it out of the water. Once out of the water it started and it rev'd but i didn't put it on the water again. What could be wrong? Any ideas?

While you have the plugs out... check the compression.

The first symptom of low compression is no throttle response when in the water... but will rev up out of the water.

Ok. So i did change the sparks and it ran well out of water. But the water that came out of the exhaust was black. What is wrong with it? Any ideas?

Did you check the compression? If not, you need to do that as it will tell you more about what's going on in the cylinders..

The black water is probably just carbon from the exhaust system, I wouln't worry about that..

When I bought my 96 GSX last month, the dealer put it on the water, and I went out just past the no wake zone and went WOT, the engine died and would not start.. I took it back to the dock, the dealer put new plugs, and it ran GREAT! The plugs had just fouled.

Because of that, I keep a spare set of plugs in both our ski's, along with a socket wrench and spark plug socket.

at this point... nothing is wrong.

A) did you check the compression

B) did you test it in the water?

You can't test anything out of the water.

Nope I live too far from the beach so I'll have to wait until I can make the trip to it. About the compression test i'll have to rent one and ill keep you guys posted. Thanks for all the help.

You might as well just buy one, it'll be a very usefull tool to have...

They are only about $25 at your local auto parts store, or if you have a Harbor Freight tools in your area they are even cheaper..

The problem is that i live in Puerto Rico so the prices are a lot higher and we only have Harbor Freight Tools via magazine. Soill have to wait.
