So I need some help. I hope to god this doesn’t mean I need a new carb but if anyone has any input I would appreciate it

Supposedly this is the part # you need if you broke the tee fitting

I found this on EBay - $90.00 + shipping.


I can't find the individual TEE fitting!!!??? I wonder how it attaches in there? Pressed in? Screwed in? Can the TEE fitting be purchased individually??? IDK, but I'm searching.

Found another listing for $70.00....seems to be a fairly common problem. :(

Well, since it's broke....can you do me a favor and figure out HOW that TEE fitting is in there? Pressed in, screwed in.....probably a destructive process but I'm really curious....if it's such a common failure point...it would seem to me that someone would have come up with a repair process/procedure by now....anybody??? have any insight into this.....would be nice if it came with a metal tee fitting or a retro-fit repair kit !!!

IDK...just spit-balling this one!

No, that part would not work on his because his is the actual body not the fuel pump block.
SO, no other options with this? New carb then?

I can't believe some start person hasn't figured out how to "fix" this issue? Could the broken end of the tee possibly be plugged, then a new tee fitting fitted to the non broken nipple side -> maybe? It would look ugly but???? necessity is the mother of invention.
 
Oy, alright well im gunna see what I can do with this thing. I might try and drill out the tee and thread a new one in.

Yeah, that's the thing...I'm really curious as to HOW that TEE fits in there....is it threaded in or pressed in with some O-rings......see if you can wiggle it out before you go animal on it....thanks.

BTW....I just watched a video on Youtube about gas fitting on Tecumseh/Briggs&Stratton carbs....so I suspect that that TEE fitting is PRESSED in......so it might be possible to PULL it out with some "CREATIVE" way to lift the fitting out...I'll leave that up to you as an exercise in your creativity, IF you dare/care to try.....no guts/no glory!

That's what I'd do, find a brass metric sized fitting with barbed tee ends. Drill and thread tap...
 
Do any of you guys know what model carb this is? I can’t for the life of me find the right model. If worst comes to worst I wanna know what it’s going to cost
 
According to the service manual for a 1998 GTX Limited w/Rotax 947 engine....you should have Mikuni BN-46I diaphragm carburetors , with fuel accelerator pump.

OK, some additional searching and research tends to indicate that that plastic tee is molded around a brass insert which is then pressed into the carb body......I've seen where people break off the rest of the plastic fitting and then extract the brass insert with some creative extration methods...i.e self tapping screw into the brass fitting and then a spacer cup and top retainer (washer) and a nut and a wrench to "pull" the brass part out of the carb. OK, so now you got the brass part out....I CANNOT for the life of me find a pressed in TEE fitting though.....it must be the HOLY GRAIL of carb fittings.....the search goes on! The press clearance is like .005 so its tight.

Look around on Youtube for people fixing the 90 degree fitting on a motorcycle carb.....same concept. I did not find anything specific to the TEE fitting removal...so I'm guessing it's conceptually the same.

It looks like the tee is part of the carb body and Keihin/Mikuni don't offer that part anywhere that I can find.,,,and I have been looking.

I would not TRUST plastic cement to hold a fuel fitting together especially under the operating conditions of a ski...too violent and I doubt cement is up to the task.....it really is a shame that a more robust part isn't used at that location....make the whole damn TEE out of brass....would last forever.....

Would this be a possibly. My only worry would be if the other carb doesn’t get enough fuel and blows up my back cylinder
 
Also keep in mind a fuel leak in an enclosed space like your engine compartment can be deadly.
Mikuni has discontinued the 951 carbs so your only option is used form a reliable source like Westside Powersports.

alrighty so I put a pair of vice grips on her, and I twisted and pulled. It took about 5 min of just that. Then the plastic piece cake right off revealing the brass base
