Melted Rave Valve

My 99 Challenger has had recurring problems with one enging since a top and bottom end rebuild several years ago. A used white block was used to replace the original grey one and the top end from the original was put on it.

The boat ran fine for one season, then the rear Rave valve on the starboard engine melted. It has now happened 3 times and my mechanic (an independant that does lots of Seadoo repairs) thought he had "fixed it once and for all" and it just happened again and now he says he really hasnt any idea of why.

He has replace the Rave valve on the exhaust, replaced piston rings, and other things which I am not sure about.

Can someone provide a list of specific things I should be suggesting to him, as I am losing patience, as my boat spends more time in the shop than on the water:(

Thanks from the Thousand Islands!!

the first things I would ask:
-are you sure you are using the correct oil, the wrong oil will gunk up your raves real fast and cause them to stick
- are you sure your mechanic knows what he is doing, if you are using the correct oil is he maybe forgetting to put o-rings on the valves or not using the proper type of o-ring that tolerates the hight heat.
- I'm assuming you mean the plastic part of the valve melts? what does the o-ring look like after a melt down?
- is he connecting the bellows properly?
