Maintenance light -- Not in limp mode

Went out for a ride today, to find that whenever I'd start the ski up it'd show MAINT for about 15? seconds. It does not go into limp mode, and at WOT runs right to 6900 RPM. What issues could I be looking at, if any? I believe it just rolled over 150 hours.

Also, been noticing that at about 5300RPM, it'd act like it completely cut out until about 5000 RPM. Did that a few times a minute.

Ski is a 2003 RXDI.

If it is a service maintenance light with "maint" flashing on the readout, you can hold the set button down for 5 seconds and it will clear. If it does not clear then your MPEM is throwing a code that needs to be read.

I had the same problem last fall. Ski would run great but started flashing "maint." Tried to clear it and would not clear yet the ski is running great. Hooked up the candoo pro. The code it was throwing was an over voltage code. I cranked the ski with a volt meter on the battery and sure enough it was showing 18vdc not the normal 13-14.5vdc. New rectifier from OSD parts solved the problem.

I would put a volt meter on the battery, crank the ski up and rev to 4000rpms and see what the voltage reading is.

12v with the machine off. 13.6v at idle. 13.9v at about 4000rpm.

Would it be a good idea to bring it to a dealer for a diagnostic scan? I'd love to pick up a CanDooPro, but it's not exactly in the budget atm..

If you do not have or have access to a candoo pro, the dealer scanner would probably be the way I would go. If you take it to the dealer make them show you the code it is throwing. Then check your repair manual for the interpretation so you know exactly what it the problem.

Yes,,, Tell them you would like the code and an estimate to do the repair. This will give you good info.

Then come back here and tell us what the code/info was.

If you are able to get the code number from the diagnostics see if it is P0475 Rave solenoid. Could be a cracked or leaking hose going to the rave solenoid...but I am only guessing until the MPEM can be read. Just a thought.

Sorry about being approximately a month behind. The maint light went out at about 152 or 153 hours (not sure when exactly, noticed it was off at 153). She's running without issues other than the cutout at 165hrs now.
