hey guys..just wanted to say hi, my names matt, former 96 spx owner over here.. got into some trouble last summer and sold my jet ski.. decided i couldnt live without one so i just came back from picking up an 06 gtx limited with 51 hours from the stealer.. i came in at under 5900 with a brand new trailer..

I waiting for the day I go to 4 stroke.

Congrats on purchase. Throw up a picture or its not true....

O and details on said trouble?????

Ill toss up the only picture I have of it when I get home from work haha I was supposed to pick it up today but were getting a snow storm by the time I get out of work so I'm not sure if that will happen.. Plus it gives me more time to free up space in the garage haha

As far as trouble I meant financially... Was laid off from work for a while and bills were piling up so I had to do what I had to do.. Actually traded it for a Nissan sentra and cashed out on the sentra for 3k so I think I did pretty well haha

You test drive it first?

You test drive it first?

i personally did not..

i know ive broken the biggest cardnal rule !!

ive been going through the same salesmen for nearly 15 years (my uncles best friend) and my family and friends has bought everything imaginable from him so when he tells me he personally rode it and everythings fine... i trust him... i didnt feel like de winterizing it to hop into a tad over 36 degree water hahah

my switch over from 2-Stroke to 4-TEC is coming this week :)

Do it and don't look back hAha

On a VERY POSITIVE note I was going by what my guy was telling me.. Turns out he was wrong... This ski has origional 7 hours on it from 2006.. I picked it up today and she's sitting in my garage

Did you mean 70 hrs? 7 hrs we put that on ours every Friday we go out. If it only has 7 hrs whoever bought that used it one weekend and must of fell off and broke a leg and vowed never to use it again lol

i thought the same thing.. i heard a 74 year old man bought it.. used it about an hour a season... traded it in for a mule and thats where i took over... this thing is SO clean i really believe it only has 7 hours...

you know how when we take the removeable compartments out we usually put them on concrete and the bottom gets a little scuffy?? well not here everything looks brand new... all of the hoses still have factory grease on them and little pink factory chalk marks... i can take a picture for you guys to show you what im talking about.. its like a 7 year old time capusle

Nice buy that!

Be sure to get the supercharger's ceramic washers replaced ASAP. Even though they have nearly no hours on them, the things are still PITA's and need to be upgraded to steel pronto. You can do it yourself, it just takes and afternoon and about ~$120 or so for the washers and tool kit.

Finally take a few minutes to pull the valve cover off and inspect the top of the exhaust valve stems... some '06 4TEC engines still came with the hollow sodium filled exhaust valves, which are stamped on the upper portion of the stem with the number 72. You REALLY want exhaust valves stamped with the number 75 though, they are the upgraded solid stemmed valves. As long as this machine has sat unused I'd be concerned about corrosion on the hollow exhaust valve stems weakening them... it doesn't take much to cause the hollow stems to fracture.

Supercharger ceramic washers and checking out/replacing the exhaust valve stems should be the 2 highest things on your agenda for this machine before the weather warms up! With any luck, your valves will be the number 75 solid stemmed valves.

Regards!
