Jet ski 2.jpgJet ski.jpeg

Hey guys think I found 2 ski's. What do think on them. Also what other questions should I ask the owners.

The 1st one 2001 GTX Limited:

I have a 01 Seadoo gtx limited. This jet ski runs absultly perfect.
And needs absultly nothing. You will not find a good looking an great running ski
Like this anymore for what I'm asking. Me an my wife have had it on the lake
Over 15 times this. Put 30 hours on it this year. Jet ski its self has 160 hours on it. Whitch is very low hours. These things last to 500+ hours before having any major problems. It has a digital hour meter. Never have had a minutes problem out of.
Starts everytime the first try. No leaks no noises. Or problems what so ever.
This jet ski has all the bells an whistles. Has speedo. Digital temp. Compass. Temp of motor. An temp of water.
Tac. A few more things I'm forgetting.
Has a very nice yacht club trailer. With new tires an wheels an bearing buddy's.
new jack. Has winch. 2in ball. Pulls great.

Has a few new parts.
* new jet pump. Wear ring. Prop. Prop bearings. The whole outer unit.
New trough hull fitting. Carbon ring. Battery.
And regular service

It has had seadoo full synthetic oil always run it.
This is a great ski.
The only reason I'm selling is because we are wanting to get a atv.
So I will sale for $2800.
Has clean an clear title
Sale for $2800.

Seadoo 2002 GTX:
it has 80.3 hrs. on it.

I am selling our 2002 SEA-DOO Jet Ski. This unit looks like new, and has been garaged kept since new. It comes with a Karvan trailer that I have equipped with a brand new spare tire and cover. The trailer also looks like new. Also included are two matching SEA-DOO life vests that match in color with the watercraft. I have installed a BUDDY BOOSTER battery charger to the unit that allows for charging of the battery during the winter. (New battery last year). I will also include a full gallon of oil ($40.00) and fenders for docking along with the dock lines. This is an exceptionally pristine jet ski... Very well maintained and cared for at a fraction of the price of a new unit .
He is asking $3500 for it.

The first one.. Um I'm not sure where he heard a 951 will last 500 hours. I've never seen that happen but I guess it could happen?

I can't see the picture of the first one that well, but it looks like a 98-99 gtx

agree, the 98/99 gtx had white bottom/maroon top. and i'd price a 98/99 at 2K or less, mint, and 160 hours is not 1/3 of its lifespan, its more like 70% engine wise.. yes, some may have lasted 500 hours but they are the exception, not the rule.

the 02 i like the description better, but still a tad pricey IMO, they sell for about 1,000 less around me.

Hey Leary, I know you mentioned before to stay away from RX DI's. The 2002 I have listed above is a GTX DI I believe. Do I stay away from all DI's or just RX DI's

myself.. I stay away from ALL di's.. but honestly its because they are over my head (and over the head of quite a few of us) I think earlier in the thread there was a poster named ski-d00 that feels differently, and again, its not over his head, and he's not that far from you. if you know how to fix them, or know the RIGHT person that can, then there is no real reason to be terrified of them, but cautious might be a better word, like I said, when they run right.... they actually run better than a carb'd engine, and get better fuel economy. Also, IMO, DI parts are becoming easier to find as good used parts since there more part out's than repairs on those models. And keep in mind, I don't always practice what I preach, I recently bought a GP1300R that's over my head, the only truly qualified guy is 2 hours drive from me, and i'm making the 240 mile round trip drive tomorrow to drop it off to the RIGHT GUY.

a suggestion might be to have a PM conversation and or phone call with ski-d00 about the subject of Di's you might get enlightened, or at least go into a purchase knowing with some level of confidence that somebody has your back if you run into troubles.

my write up on model selection was based my personal bias against Di's AND on the criteria you put into your responses, and your lack of technical background on ski's, which was in your first post. I always suggest that you should use the KISS method if your jumping into ski's for the first time, which basically means that more people locally, (and online of course) will be qualified to help you, guide you, and or just fix it for you for a fee.

so don't be afraid, just cautious,, honestly, I can't fix much stuff on my Dodge 5.9 either, but I bought it anyway, however, I'm also comfortable that there are about 150 mechanics within a short drive or tow... that CAN fix it...

with a DI, you won't be that lucky, you might just have 1 or 2 at best.

with that said, if your serious about a DI ski, then it would be in your best interests to know ahead of time who your going to call and go visit when things turn south, how far away they are, and how much the shop rate is, if you find the answer's to those question's acceptable, then dig in, you'll love it.

We really need to get you down to Florida with an empty double trailer, the deals are so much better down here ! lol

oh, one thing I forgot to add... generally you'll find us as a group are a cheap azz bunch that prefer to buy ski's needing some mechanical or aesthetic love, ie: we like to buy under market value. So you'll be hard pressed to present a listing on a ski that we all agree is a good ski and a good price. (we're DIY forum members, we like to fix stuff, and we like to buy them cheap) so keep our opinions on price and stuff in mind when we respond, everything looks expensive to us if its more than 70% of retail!

Thanks again Leary, it's not that I am serious about DI's it just that is what I keep finding that looks good. I also find a lot of Yamaha 1200 gpr around here which is another one you discouraged. I am willing to drive 3 to 4 hrs from Cincy but not all the way down to Florida. I am just thankful I found this site. Everyone has been great. I am not very mechanically inclined so there is no way I could buy fixer uppers for cheap. I can do some basic stuff.

the 1200 engine I like, i'm just was disappointed in my limited experience with the 1200gpr (duly noted I own a 1300gpr !) we discussed that briefly during the discussion/hijack on page 1.. the 1200gpr's aren't bad IF you (or the PO) fixed the porpoising issues, it revolves around ride plate/washers/shims i should not have been so quick to discount that model. that can be fixed relatively easily and inexpensively by somebody that has done it before, but i'm not the one to help explain that... the porpoising is an annoying as hell bounce on light chop when riding drove me absolutely bonkers !!!!!

When DI skis are running, all is wonderful.

When they need service they Are no fun to diagnose and get expensive to repair very quickly.
