Lookin at getting a seadoo speedster next summer and i'm wanting to get the best bang for my buck...the 95 and 96's seem to be running around the same price and the 97 seems a little more. I'm fairly mechanically inclined but i dont want to buy something that is more prone to failure than others...please give me whatever input you may have, i appreciate it in advance...thanks for looking

right now id be wearry of any 2000 and below parts are discontinued i bought a 1998 speedster very clean intact on board computer not working right now its 1500.00 to 2000.00 doallars if i can find one word of advice i found here is that 2000 and a bove you will be alright with parts

96.5+, the 95's have a single water intake for the pump, the later years have dual intakes and a rear facing seat....As for the mpem just convert it to a jetski setup and skip the factory mpem way cheaper..

thanks for the quick replies guys...have a question though, what/how would you consider a boat 96.5? i was leaning toward a 96 anyway but also i have another question....how do you convert the mpem to a jetski setup? thanks for the info in advance...

even used mpem from ebay at about 600.00 dollars with a factory life expentency of 10 to 12 years just dont add up now 1500.00 for new one if i can find one and try to get a 10 year insurance compared to use is better bet dont you all think

Life expentency!??!...They work fine, until someone either connects the battery wrong or uses jumper cables.. :)

parrothd....how do you convert it over to a jetski setup like in your post above? curious about that. also, lol...how do you connect a batter wrong??

Yeh im confused with the life expectancy thing too. There are lots of boats and skis going on the original MPEM still. Mine is 13 years old and no problems. (knock on wood)

USER philldoo had hes go out also and mentioned that heat from engines warp the mpem wich it sits above them is what he mentioned so in the long haul weather and tear does damage these units question is can you help it with some way with heat shielding of any sort

just to mention it seems that my boat did do some ocean time as one of the owners lived in long beach california and there is signs of some salt corrosion around engine parts other than that my boat is very clean and intact even cleaner than newer ones that i saw in the past i will post some pics of it later today
