Hi my 3d starts and runs fine out the water, 2 minutes on the water it's like its in limp mode. Can anybody help?0

Has the ski had new plugs?
How much of a gap is there on the impeller and wear ring. (pump wear).
Could be if it runs fine on hose pipe pressure it isn't the same pressure through the cooling system. That would make it overheat and go to limp mode.
Or if your compressions are low in the cylinders the motor under load would be poor.
I'm no qualified mechanic but like to solve a few problems I've encountered myself over the years.

Hi, yeh plug n that r fine, can it be rfi module or file pump or just battery not got enough current running threw it?

Look at the battery leads. I had one go bad on an 97 XP once. Made one up with an old battery jupm lead once.
And if the battery power poor after a full charge. Try a new battery. My year old gel battery has just gone bad after this cold winter.

I have exact same issue,
ski seems fine out of water, soon as i put in the water slow slow, had a prob with starting so charged battery, fuel seems to go in when on trailer, soon as put in water no mater how much throttle i give it, the same speed, when release the throttle slows right down

was going to try new battery as the Winter was brutal, would motorcycle battery suffice?

any joy with ur 3d? im gonna try injectors, when i hold in full throtle on the hose its fine then starts poping n backfiring? any help/

Hi , I have same thing on my 2004 3D , what is wrong with this engines?"?????
I rebuild engine with new all new parts and change MPEM and ECU .I try put new sparks, ing. Coil all things. Nothing.
Is shooting into the intake. When drop on water go maybe 15mph or les
, I'm thinking that ingincton timing on MPEM need to be reprogramed . Because of new marks and points on new parts. After rebuild all marks and points are in different positions , that why is shooting ( to intake or to exhaust ). I'm right?????????

I rep;aced my plugs and ran on trailer with flush kit for ten mins, brought out on water and was back to working order

if backfiring it will be plugs, ignition timing or rotary valve

I will check timings, ingiton and valve, . I'm going this week to my friend who is working on sea doo dealer so I will check on my ski and try to push ignition timing little ahead , when I check with lamp was 3-4mm to advance . That's why is shooting to intake. I hop so I can reprogram MPEM .

I have exact same problem, could it defo not be the rfi unit? Any one that finds this problem out please post up thanks.

Hi guys I was looking at mine last night again, I put new plugs in it and it ran perfect on the trailer , for about 15 mins, then it started breaking up at high revs, and then started , misfiring on now and again popping out the exhaust on tick over, any idea's?

Hi all, I have had the same problem on two very new 3Ddi's and have just found the cause today. mine was the top coil pack was tracking onto the coilpack mounting plate!! this in turn causes misfire/bogging/limp home symtoms. I have just written a thread with some pics and it is pending moderator review so keep your eyes posted and let me know if this was the case for yours.

thanks

Craig
