So I finally get a day off work after working 17 days in a row. I head to the lake with a buddy today. I push the left button and it wont start.

I get the 2 beeps, the shifter is in N. The right engine fires up fine. When I push the left start button, I hear a faint click but no slow cranking or anything.

The small box mounted next to the engine is where I hear the click. I took the cover up and off and I am guessing that is the solenoid. All connections were tight there. It clicks when you push the button, so I guess the solenoid is working.

I have only had the boat out once. Everything worked fine that day. I even came home and started it to flush it out and it was fine. The only thing I have done since is I looked around in the engine compartment to see if the 2nd battery was going to fit, I did not move anything or disconnect anything. What do I check now?

been here before

check your battery first, I bought a brand new battery and a cell went bad on it. So of course it was the last thing I checked, second check your 5 amp fuse, it will still click if the fuse is blown. also check all the connections and wires they do rust out

Before spend'n the 35-40 buks on relay, I had bad one, replaced it, but with bad one, I drilled out the rivets, and exposed whats inside. Seems like, calcium builds up within, so, I cleaned all up, and now just wait'n to solder the 2-red "tangs" back onto the post, and tighten ur up, see if it works again. The red wire coil, didnt look at all bad..so, I hope it works. Gives me a spare.

i just had my right engine act up..turned out to be I ran it out of gas, and there was no gas getting to the carb. Sucks to have all the mods we have and the boat f's up once you get it to the water..especially when you have a group of people ready to enjoy the water.. keep us posted on what you can come up with...

simplest thing to do is use a volt meter and check for 12 volts DC at the input and output of the starter relay. Then while trying to start the engine check the voltage again...
If you have 12 volts coming out of the relay to the starter, check the starter. From my 95 speedster sittin for years, both of the starters were rusted up and wouldn't turn at all. A'll I heard was a clicking sound....(the relays)

good luck!

I doubt it is the battery. It is brand new and I keep it charged. The other engine starts just fine. I will try to work on it in a bit. It wont do anything but click at that relay. I might try to jump across the 2 posts and see if it cranks there.

I got it running today. I figured it was osomething I messed with. I retraced my steps and found I had left the cable from the battery switch to the port side solenoid off when I replaced the switch. Runs good again.

Dang I bet your relieved!! I had to suck gas thru the fuel hose to get mine back running.. It was a small fix, but I swallowed some gas in the process, and that relly sucked!

Yeah it was a huge relief. I had a feeling it was something I did since nothing else had changed. Sucks you had to suck down some gas. At least you learned how low you can let the gas go before it really sucks.
