My understanding is that LED lights are not affected by the water either, unlike normal bulbs are when hot bulb meets cold water. Have you had you new lights submerged yet, and how did they stand up, if so?
yeah the LEDs don't put out as much heat, and there's no glass, so they don't crack like the glass bulbs if you have a leaky housing and drop the trailer in with hot bulbs.
they sure do cost a lot more to replace when you have a careless moment though..
Ive had my LEDs on the trailer for 3 season now. Thy all work like new. Never a single problem. Its a great investment. I bought them from a guy on ebay, R and P carriages. There were the cheapest and best to deal with.
Oh ya. I've submerged them several times now without any issues. It's nice to not have to worry about unplugging the trailer harness, and then potentially forgetting to plug things back in. I got the kit on sale at Princess Auto (which would be the equivalent to your Harbor Freight) for $40.00 including marker lights and wiring harness.
I have a set from West Marine and so far have not had any issues, compared to regular halogen type lights. But the HF ones are so cheap. On sale right now $39.99 and then if you have a 20% off coupon, even less.
All of my side marker lights are LED's. But not the rear lamps. Been thinking about making the swap just so that I don't have to think about unplugging and remembering to plug them back in kind of thing....
