Knock sensor specs?

I'm getting a knock sensor fault. Took sensor off and seadoo manual says it should have 5 M ohms resistance. Mine has 4.67 M ohms. Is that far enough out of spec to cause my knock sensor fault?

At this point a couple months old. Bought it with blown supercharger, installed new one. When key is put on post, display shows SENSOR, then when I run it for a minute I get display CHECK ENGINE. I have conflicting feedback as to whether 4.67 M ohms is out of spec to cause KNOCK SENSOR fault. The gas that's in it is from when I bought it so I don't really know how long it sat around or what fuel it had in it\.

What is the actual fault code? It might be bad gas making it knock. I wouldnt think that reading is far off but Ive never had to test a knock sensor before

The fault code doesn't show up on the PWC's display, but local Seadoo dealer did diagnostic, and told me it was knock fault.

Pump gas out or burn it off, 4670000/5000000 x100% is within the +/- 5% so I say your knock sensor is fine, get that old shitty fuel outta there, put in some fresh stuff with a half a can of seafoam and the knock sensor will stop bitching.

After I have a couple hours to reassemble the thing, changing fuel is my next step. Thanks for the advice! I may have done a lot of work for nothing removing the intake to to get to the knock sensor. Hopefully I haven't created any collateral damage along the way:blush:

Yah you probably did, it would have been nice if there was a gold band on the knock sensor LoLz. Get her all back together change out that fuel (recommend seafoam additive aswell) and you'll be good to go.

Well . . . I removed the old gas and put in about 3 gallons of 93 octane along with a little octane boost and took it out for a ride. It seemed to run fine, but I have check engine on display again. Obviously I'm getting a little frustrated at this point. Guess I'll take it back to dealer to run a diagnostic and see if its still a knock sensor fault. I think I remember reading in shop manual that there is some sort of adapter cable unit between the knock sensor's plug and the PEMP. Anybody know if those have any failure history?

Dude, you need to run the boat for a while, there will still be old fuel in the fuel rail. Aside from the check engine light is the ski running rough? Limp Mode etc?? If its running fine, got out and hammer on it for a solid 1/4 tank. Then come back to dock, take it back out and see where your at.

Its not running rough and definitely not in LIMP mode. I only ran it for about ten minutes and figured that should have easily run the old fuel thru and the 93 octane in so I put it back on the trailer. Thanks for the advice.

Do all 4-tecs have knock sensor adapters? I have 04 /GTX Limited that I bought with blown supercharger. Replaced supercharger, now getting knock sensor fault. Replaced fuel with 93 octane and some octane boost, checked sensor for 5 Megohms and that's ok. Shop manual says check resistance on knock sensor adapter. I don't see that mine has a knock sensor adapter - 2 pin plug from know sensor goes into another plug that disappears into major wire loom. Does it do any good to install a knock sensor adapter? On my ECM connections between contact 9 and 23 I have 5 Megohms. Engine seems to run OK. Fault driving me crazy!

If your running fine you have nothing to worry about, it's possible that the fault must be cleared by budds.

Actually hang on and I'll go see what the story is for the knock sensor fault.

K it should clear itself, however you may need to have the faults cleared by a budds system or candoo system. Are you sure your torqued the knock sensor back to the engine block to the correct torque?
