I have a 1998 Seadoo GTS and every time I go to start it I have to wiggle the key awhile to get it to start. It never beeps when i hook up the key and takes awhile before making a connection. I dont know if the key is the problem or the DESS post or something else. I am just looking for a solution to this problem. help please!

i get laughed at for doing this, but it seems to work for me...
I blow a quick puff of air on the inside of the key, and for some reason it works every time, the combination of air/saliva seems to work :)

what is the best stuff to clean it with?

scotch brite pad and a mild detergent. there shouldn't be more than mild oxidation on the contacts of the post. if its squeaky clean already and you're not getting the key read every time then either the post or the key or both are headed south.

I know I'll be dating myself but just like the Atari 2600 and Celecovision cartridges. Lol.

I just went through this, bought a post from Tonka, same thing, just had an old spare key programmed and it hasn't missed yet. Some times it would take almost 60 tries to get it. There is a sticky here some where on the beeper replacement

Thanks, on my phone, checking in from the beach. I'm in full slacker mode for the next 2 weeks. Beach, boat, and skis.

i've had to do that before, especially if the key has some water in it.

i have to pull my key off and put it back on to get two beeps and be allowed to start the ski if i leave the key on the post and the gauges shut off, is that normal? if the key is on the post and i hit the start button i get a single long beep. i get two beeps and start like normal again if i pull the key off and put it back on.

ok i will try that in the morning if that doesnt work i will try getting a new lanyard first and if that doesnt fix it then i will know its the post. trying to start cheap and work up to more expensive! haha
