Just got back from the dealer..

Ok.. So I go to my local dealer to order some stuff and start looking at the ski's... I tell him I am interested in a Gti 130 Se or 155 SE.. He looks at me and asks if I have ever ridden before.. I tell him I have the speedster 150 boat but never owned a ski.. he said that his "recommendation" is to skip the 130 and even 155 and at minimum go with a 215.. He asked about my riding habits and said that he has been riding since he was a kid and says that the 130/155 will be short lived.. Also said that the power from those will not be enough for a big guy like me plus pulling a tube with people.. Now I know the sales guy's job is to try and get you to upgrade but it got me thinking.. i know with my boat i went with the 155hp engine and wish now I had the extra power.. so idk.. they had a nice assortment but i am trying to keep myself in the budget I had.. I want to stick with Seadoo even though he said that Yamaha engines that are smaller put out the same power.. so idk what to do.. the ski's he had that would fall "somewhere" in my price range are as follows..

2009 RXT-X 255 - $12500 out the door with trailer
2009 GTX 215 - $10500 out the door with trailer
2011 GTX215 - $13500 out the door with trailer
2011 GTI 130 SE - $10300 out the door with trailer

Honestly I really am torn between more power or more features.. I can probably pull off any of the ski's.. I feel the prices could be lower.. I am leaning towards the 2001 GTX 215.. Get all the features plus more power.. I really like the idea of the brake/reverse lever being on the handle.. What to do what to do.. What do you guys think... Also what is your take on the prices..

I wondering why the 2011 are for sale....are they brand new in crate or returned by previous owner?
The experts here can offer alot more than I can on the difference of these models.....BUT be sure to dicker on the price with him.

he wants your money. The GTI 130 is perfectly fine for 99% of what you need. I am a big guy 280 lbs. I ride my friends and it hits 57ish. It can ride me and pull a 2 person tube. It really just comes down to what you feel comfortable spending and what you want. But if you wanna stay cheap, dont fear the GTI 130.

For me, the faster 215 isnt worth the hassle of dealing with the supercharger.

Yea.. That was the other concern I had.. Not sure if I wanted to deal with the whole supercharger thing but from what I can tell its not really any more maintenance.. just has to be checked every 100 hours.. not sure what to do.. i think i really want to have all the newer features like the brake and have the reverse on the handle bar.. i mean i could do the 2009 gtx 215 but you just lose all the technology that the 2011's have.. What to do.. What to do..

Plus. On a side note.. I would have to be keeping up with my Lt's 2010 GTX is Limited 260 lol.. i am thinking that at least the 215 is somewhat close.. alot closer than the 130 lol..

Yeah it MIGHT not be anymore maintenance. but it sure has the potential. Some say spend 300 to 500 to rebuild every 100 hours. Others say its not required. Spend that extra money every 100 hours or take the chances of it wreaking havoc on a $5000 engine. Not me......130 or 155 it is. The only difference between those 2 is that the 155 gets to the top speed a tiny bit faster. If it was me..id be all over the 2011 GTI 130SE and still spend the least amount of money. See if he has some you can demo.

Sounds like he is talking brand new old stock, and you should try to bargain with everyone whether they sell new or used.

The prices sound good if they include a decent trailer. In your definition of "out the door", does that include tax/title/registration?

The iBR system is very nice to have. I love how easy it is to do F, N, and R. The brake is also very nice to have while riding with passengers. I hate hitting a large wake at high speed with someone on back, and where I ride, sometimes they show up quick.

Also, keep in mind that if you are towing someone, to stay legal you need to have a spotter behind you watching and you can only tow one person. You have to have a free seat for all of those involved (You the driver, the spotter/passenger, and the person being towed). I believe most (if not all) states require this. That being said, I have never heard anyone with a 130 or 155 motor complain about not having enough power to tow a tube.

The 215 will have about the same top speed. The 260 just gets there a little faster.

Yea.. See I have the 2010 Speedster 150 with 155hp motor.. I usually carry 4 people plus all the gear plus sound equipment.. And the boat is not slow by any means.. We still jump waves and get up to 50mph.. I was surprised when he said that only because you are talking about a smaller unit (5 feet shorter and 3 feet less in width and over 700lbs lighter) not being able to do all this stuff.. I mean I know I am a bigger guy but with half the weight it should be a lot quicker then my boat.. understandably it has 130hp vs my boats 155hp.. but still idk.. like i said the other issue is keeping up with the 260 my boss has.. im gonna try and get some more prices on them and see if i can't get him to lower the price.. the prices listed were out the door with trailer, tax, reg, and prep/frieght fees...

I just bought a 2011 RXT-X 260 in June.

$12,733 for the ski
$990 for tax/title/reg on ski
$1390 for 2011 double trailer
$190 for tax/title/plate/reg on trailer

I just bought two 2011, 155hp, GTI-SE's. I have a 215hp Speedster boat. I'm very happy with all of them. I didn't buy the supercharged skis, 0 to 60 in about 11 seconds is plenty fast enough, and I have to deal with a blower in the boat. I'm not sure why a salesman would tell you that the additional 25 horse power would only get you to top speed a fraction of a second earlier, or that top speed would be about the same..... 25 hp is 25 hp! Anyway, we love the new skis. We traded in a pair of 1998 GTX Limited skis, boy were they fun for the 12 years we beat them!

I'm all about The speed and acceleration so I just bought a 2011 rxpx on 7-31-11 paid 14k out the door on a single trailer my friend has 2 2008 gti and we wakeboard with them all the time with 2 people on the ski and pulling a wakeboarder no problems at all save your money and go with the gti

I have 2-2006 GTI with over 500hrs on each.Ran Amsoil marine oil 10w-40 with no issues what-so-ever.I also have 2-2007 RXP 215 with superchargers,running the same oil with no issues so far.You will out-grow the GTI very quickly.The 215 however is alot of power that you will not out-grow.

I bought my '05 RXT, new...baddest on the block, at the time. Can still hang with almost anything out today...with very minor mods.

You guys afraid of the superchargers just settle down. Just don't buy a machine earlier than 2010. The new superchargers are housed with metal shims not the havoc ceramics.

I look at it this way, buy it right the first time. If you have the money buy new so you can get a warranty but buy something that you won't get bored with to fast. I drive a 03 supercharged and today I still love it. I still keep up with the big boys and have had no issues with the superchargers. I am shy of 270 hours and still going strong.

I have seen the new power plants with the new gadgets and yes they are nice but remember after warrant is over you have to pay for issues and believe me when you price out an ibr or is module this alone may change your mind. Lets face it this sport is a rich mans sport. Fuel is expensive, seadoos are expensive, parts are expensive but what isn't when you want to have some fun.

Now it is your decision...
