Just bought 95 speedster. What do i do now??

Just bought a 95 speedter for $1700. Its been sitting for several years now. Tried jump starting it but it wouldnt even turn over. The boat made a loud beep every time i hit the start button. Took the black carb covers ovv and there was oil just below the choke butterfly "yes filled up" I was wondering WTF. but i think it may just be from winterizing years ago, its a little dirty and rusty in there. I know nothing about boats and i was wondering what should i do as far as cleaning and checking for any parts that may need attention after sitting for a while.

I am currently outside cleaning and working on it. I prefer someone call me and talk to me a little about this boat as i know nothing about anything. My name is Joe and my # is 757 240 3763

Joe - Don't jump start it as you risk blowing the main computer! Give the battery a good charge or replace it.

Remove the plugs and see if you can spin the engine by hand (using the flywheel on the back as where you'd grab it from) You should be able to move it at little. If not, put some penetrating oil through the spark plug holes, and let it sit to try to break the rust. You might also want to try cranking it w/o the plugs in but be sure to put a rag over the holes as oil could shoot out.

Once you have the battery charged and motor spinning, it should start up (I hope)

you should have 2 batteries,install new ones and make sure you have a ground cable between both batteries.on speedsters they use both batteries to start each engine

Joe, the posts above are correct, replace the batteries rather than wasting you time charging the old dead ones. I would try to get it freed up if it is frozen first, in case it needs major engine repair rather then spend money on batteries just yet. Remove the spark plugs and put the spark plug caps on the grounding studs. On the rear of the engine by the shaft is a large round item called a "PTO",(Power Take Off). Try to turn each engine over by hand. If it isn't turning over you could use a pipe wrench to get the shaft to budge. Wear gloves to protect you hands if it suddenly frees up and be careful not to damage the hull of the seadoo. Turn it in a counter clockwise direction. If it won't budge, go buy some PB Blaster from like Auto Zone, and shoot some down the cylinders through the spark plugs. Let it seep in for about a day and try to rotate it again to free it up. If it freed up put in new batteries, fresh plugs also from Auto Zone. Change the old gas with fresh fuel. When you attach the DESS,(Digital Electronic Security System) lanyard, should get 2 beeps meaning it is ready to fire up. Add a little gas and oil mixture in the spark plugs, say 2-3 oz. and see if it fires up.
Chances are if it has been sitting for a time the carbs will need to be removed and cleaned before it will run properly. If you get it to kick that's a good sign. Get that far and re post. We'll get you pointed in the right direction to get it running again.

Let us know what you encounter,and we'll go from there.

i took the cylinders off and used a pipe wrench to try and turn it over and its hard as hell. i believe the crankcase bearings are probably toast or rusted. The other engine is the same way. I think i am going to just sell the boat. I am looking at a 18' 98 challenger.
