OK- I have seen several folks talking about not jump starting ski's. So of course, I had already jumped mine before I knew. Does it matter it I jumped it from a boat with outboard motor... It was running, but as I "think" they work, should not have been putting off too much charge, since it is a stator, not an alternator? I'm sure I am wrong...

It ran after jumping, but was not running right in the first place... ie the jump off. Now it is not running at all, I think I burned up the relay, or starter fooling with it last weekend. (completely boneheaded move on my part) So tonight I am going to start working on the starter problem, and was wanting to know if I need to check anything else out, because of the jump off?

Thanks in advance!!

Check all fuses, test the solenoid, make sure it's good and the 12v trigger going to it. Quite possible you could have burned up the starter if you did a lot of cranking and it didn't start. You could remove the starter and bench test and maybe rebuild it for $20. I'd advise against buying a new aftermarket starter, they never last. You're better off with a good used oem one or rebuild the one you have.

Thanks GGulliot!!

I just went down and did some testing...so not sure if I figured anything out. I jumped the solenoid with screw driver and starter engaged. So starter is working... is this a definite bad solenoid? Or should I do more looking before i order one... maybe on the switch ?

If you have a multi meter you can test both the switch and solenoid first before buying something. See if when you press the start switch you're getting the 12 volts sent to solenoid, should help you narrow it down.
