2000 GTX. Just finished rebuilding the jet pump. The manual says that after screwing the impeller on, I should be able to slightly move the housing up and down while still having the shaft in a vice. I am not getting any noticeable movement. The thrust bearing appears to be centered on the shaft, so I don't think its causing a bind. How much play should I get? Also, I had to use a lot of force to get the shaft through the needle bearings into the housing. Should the fit be that tight? How freely should the shaft turn once installed? Hope I didn't screw this up! Thanks!

It should turn very very easily by hand. I've never had to push a prop shaft in with any force at all, they usually drop in.

Yes, bearings were set within specs on each side. Polished the shaft really well And made sure there were no defects in it. I did try to slip one of my old bearings over it when I realized how tight of a fit it was. Old bearings slid down it with ease. Hope they didn't send me the wrong bearings.

I'm an idiot. Just removed the shaft and there is very fine pitting all down the shaft that I didn't pay any attention to last night. I'm assuming that's my problem. Ordering a new shaft now. Thanks for your help!
