Jet Pump Bearing Seized

On my 2000 GTX the jet pump just seized up. After pulling it apart the pump was full of water and no oil in it. Has anyone run across this before? Am I going to be able to salvage the pump housing? Will the seized bearings ruin the pump housing? I ordered a pump rebuild kit, but maybe should have waited to see the condition of inside the pump.

I'm having a tough time getting the impeller out but will be getting a bigger breaker bar soon. I have the impeller tool and have tried heating the inside base where the tool goes without any luck. TIA!

Super common on the 2000 models. They changed over to a single lip seal and was reversed on these for some reason. So life was short.

I am assuming your ski has a 951 with the big 155 pump.

Yuu dont need to heat it. Soak with something best you can. Threads are either corroded or full of thread lock. Sometimes you need a 6 ft cheater bar. Once it breaks loose, if the threads dont galll up then will come right off.

Sometimes I had to use an 18 inch cresent wrench to hold one end with it laying on the floor. Using leverage in your favor.

Thanks! I'm heading out to grab a breaker bar now. I'll lock the other end in my bench vice. Any thought on the usability of the pump with the messed up bearings?

Usually when the pump runs dry like yours, it kills the thrust bearing and impeller shaft first. I have many times machined both the housing and shaft back enough to either add a second thrust washer in place of removed material or a slug to buildup what is worn down in housing. Isnt worth the time unless you have the equipment as your disposal. New aftermarket pump assemblies may be cheap as $250.

You were exactly right. Thrust washer has marred up and welded itself to the surface.

Have a recommendation where to get a pump? I found one on FB, but the seller isn't giving me a time to come pick it up.
