Hello!

I'm new to the forum and looking for some help on the type of cover to buy.

Is anyone familiar with the "Poppy" cover/company? They are sold on Ebay.

What's the best brand/type of boat cover to buy?

Just bought a 2001 Islandia several weeks ago but it did not come with a top. I intend to trailer the boat frequently and live in Northern Virginia.

This forum looks like a great source of experience to draw from.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I just purchased one. I'll try to update you when it arrives. The Sur Last fabric is made by the same company as Sunbrella. Sunbrella is acrylic and Sur Last is polyester coated with urethane.

I have seen great results with the company POPPY! The company is very competitive priced and the quality is very good also. Check out their website. and ask about their warranty.I'm sure you be satisfied. I have heard of lots of people that are.

Taylor Made

I just ordered a Taylor Made cover through www.westmarine.com, and the material on it is called "hot shot" fabic (acrylic coated polyester, mildew and UV resistant, breathable, with a 5 year limited warranty). They call them semi-custom, but all that really means is that they give you the right size for the model boat you have.

West Marine from what I've seen and heard so far carries pretty good quality brands, so I think this would be one of the better covers. It was pretty inexpensive too - $159+tax.

I'll let you know when it comes in, and how well it works . . .

The poppy has cut-outs for the Cleats on the boat and a ratchet in the rear to keep it tight. The old saying goes as you get what you pay for... I had 3 west marine covers...it was fine if you used it as a dust cover...but they fade and can't keep up to "Normal Florida Sun" which isn't warranted.

I have a poppies cover for my challenger 1800. Am very happy with it, it came with the anti pooling system.
It is a perfect fit for my boat and also fits when binimi cover is on and folded down, it has cut outs which are reinforced around all 6 cleats and it has a zippered hole over the fuel cap so you can fill without removing.
the rachet strap holds it down and their vacuum system stops it from flapping at all. I have traveled along the freeway at 60mph with no prob's.
Hope this help's you!

P.S. after reading my own post. No i dont work for them!

I only got the cover to keep my girlfriend's cat (or her neighborhood "friends" anytime she's in heat) out of it lol. We keep it underneath the carport, so it doesnt see sun anyway, and if I have to get another cover in a few years fine, but with all the initial expenses of a new boat, I didnt want to splurge on something that was almost optional at this point.

But at least I know which one to get now! Do you like the poppy covers more than the ones that SeaDoo makes?

Craig that will work like a champ as a dust cover. I might buy a cheaper(less expensive) one next time iIneed one too as I only need it as a dust cover. The cat is actually did you a favor...Even in the car port the dust and morning dew would have that clean white interior dingy gray in about 3 to 4weeks. Even the el cheap-o covers at Walmarts is a good investment to protect the boat. Here in Florida, the sun reeks havoc on everything it shines on and nothing lasts here like up north. I found out the hard way... Here if you cut cost even a little to save a few, it bites you in the butt. I like west marine products, The locals even know me by name!

uh ...what's my name....

Thank you!!

I've seen it said here before, "this is a great forum!" It has provided a ton of info for the new jet-boater that I am.

I just purchased a Poppy cover, it arrived in two days. I'm really impressed with the quality and think it's going to be a great investment. I'm going to put it on my Islandia on Friday.

Thank you to everyone that responded, I appreciate your help.

Poppy Company Covers

Hey fellow Doo'ers! I am Terri from Poppy Company. I see you are all talking about my covers. I am one of you, an old Doo'er. I have a cover for every model of Sea-Doo PWC and Sea-Doo Boat. If you have any questions about covers or cover fabric, I am happy to answer them, I know all the models and how they fit. They are high quality, all in stock and I ship daily.

Have a question about how to clean them, waterproof them, what ever. Just ask. I'm an old racer so I have tons of experience and know all the fabrics and fits out there. Thanks for the complaments on my covers. I appreciate all of you!

Happy Dooin' and keep up the great posts, this Seadooforum.com rocks, its fun to read! :hurray:

Here's the update I promised; The cover fits well. However, rain water will puddle in the back around the bimini. I found an easy way to prevent it (other than lifting the trailer tongue way up). I leave the engine cover open under the boat cover and it keeps the low spots near the bimini drained even in heavy rain. Seems like a great boat cover overall. I'd buy another one.
