He said one of the bolts rang off from crankcase and he took it to a mechanic and he told him he needed a new crankcase. He also said it needed 1 new piston as well. It is the ski only. No trailer. He is asking $1200. I have been wanting to get an orange/rust color millenium for some time and he is local. What do you all think? I own a 2000 GTI and it runs great. Not sure if it is worth the hassle to fix this one up. Thoughts here is a pic

I am new to PWC so my advice is not worth much..... for me it would depend on who was going to do the work. If you have the ability then it may be worth it. If you have to pay someone else to do the work; no way would it be worth it. The labor would be too much.

I would price out worst case scenario; entire new motor. Then you can determine if you think it is a deal. I would pull the trigger if it was less than $1k.

Good luck.

Pretty ski. Sounds like a good deal, since there is not trailer I would offer a couple hundered less. There is a good possibility you could retap the crankcase and replace the bolt with and oversize one, I think I would figure on replacing both pistons, and possibly the sleeves. At worst shouldn't run more than $ 500 - $ 600.

You'll be like me 2 skis and one tow vehicle.

I always fall for a pretty face, I'd go for it.

I offered him $900 and we shall see what happens. If it would have been any other color then no, but Orange is my favorite color and this one is pretty close. I can do the work myself. Pistons are about $70 a piece if I rem. correctly. Might have to replace the needle bearrings too which are like $15 or so a piece. Plus a new complete gasket kit and a crank case. The worse part is the motor is already out of the ski. I would have felt more comfortable if the motor was still in the ski so I could label things to make it easier to assemble. What is so special about the Millenium eidition? Just that is is a year 2000 Ski? I just bought a running 2000 Seadoo GTI for $1600 with titles and trailer. I will def. have $600 worth of parts to replace on this GTX. I want to know if ya'll think its worth the headache. I see a few have said it isnt so im skeptical. I have seen these models sell for $3000 in running shape with trailers around here.

Better not say "Orange if my favorite color" around here. This is Big Blue country.

It's a neat place to go and a neat ride, usually under steam power, goes thru the tunnel under Missionary Ridge.
